Cool Bourbon Beach Closed? Best jerk chicken on the Beach?

We're hearing stateside that Bourbon Beach Bar is closed. Any truth to the rumor?

If so, we need to find the best jerk chicken on the beach. Love to hear your suggestions, we want to try them all.

Bourbon Beach reopened last month. We did not tried the chicken there - but the set up looked the same as before...

It is once again being said that is closed - we will be stopping by today to verify that information...

Sorry Dana1 I posted before I saw your post. This is truly heartbreaking.

The interesting thing is that when you're in Negril you are constantly bombarded with vendors trying to sell their wares. Most of what they are trying to sell don't appeal to a large majority of the tourists. The sales pitch goes immediately from bandannas and wrist bands to ganja, ecstasy, cocaine, etc. It then goes immediately from there to begging for money because they are poor and their sister needs a crotch operation or something.

This comes across as just pure desperation and I'm sorry for their situation but they aren't offering something that I need.

These vendor's would clean up if they offer something tourists would really want like great jerk chicken or pork on the beach like Dean with his jerk pork or Norman with his patties.

Most of the beach higglers would make a fortune if they realized this simple fact.

Get a good recipe and sell it on the beach. Word of mouth will eventually bring in many customers.

Don't the new owners know that the Bourbon Beach chicken was a gold mine? If they don't reinstate it then I will no longer be a customer. Bourbon Beach had amazing chicken and hot sauce. What are these people thinking? I'm very disappointed.

Having said that I remember being a bit saddened when "De Bus" became "Bourbon Beach" but the chicken made up for it.

Don't take this as malicious criticism as I know things change and I'm ignorantly trying to understand. However, I do know that one of the only ways the new establishment will be successful is if they have something amazing to offer like great chicken. (Hint hint) I can only hope someone is listening.

Sometimes change isn't always for the better but it can be if the change is focused in the right direction. I'm willing to give it a try when I'm down there in Feburary.

if you can walk across the road off the beach for a bit in the evenings, Marshall on the "Step Aside" cart does an awesome jerk chicken ... on the beach road ~ very well known for the best quality preparation and product ~

I have always loved the chicken at Bourbon Beach too "on the beach" ... too bad about things around there at the moment.

Across the street from Kuyaba is a great little jerk pushcart run by Williams. He has two, they are both pale yellow. I got a big bottle of his granny sauce to take home. That was some tender chicken, full of smokey flavor. Tam gives his granny sauce 5 stars...along the lines of 3Dives...not as firery-hot spicy, though...

StepAside is quite good as well....

I was just there on.....Monday night? Yes, Monday. It was opened and they had a DJ then some bands. The bartender was seriously overcharging for drinks. Met Harley, the guy who is leasing it or whatever...let's just say he was drunker than I was, which is fine if you are not trying to run a business.

The lights were on but nobody was home...

Well, that was meant more tongue in cheek than a statement of fact. The lights were on, but the bar was not stocked and the grill was not going when we got there just a few minutes ago. But we saw the owner of the property (not the "Harley", Canadian guy who was leasing it), and as soon as the owner has gotten his plans finalized, he will let us know what's happening.

Until that point, pretty much everything you will be reading or hearing is rumor or speculation.
