I would bet Jimmy has never had one.... One thing we do know, if you land a "Seaplane" up on the cliffs the Negril police will shoot at it...They shoot from the Lighthouse... New song " Hamburger Mistaica" or "Mistaica in Negril".... We know what Bob would call it.. Thanks, Woodymon

I've been going to Negril since '88..(be there 1/26-3/1) skipped 4 years in the early 2000's & have been coming back since & I like going to M'ville to grab a lounge chair (that is kindly carried out for me if one isn't empty every single time) but I never eat or drink there. The last thing I'm going to eat in Jamaica is a Cheeseburger with such great local eats around...what are nuts!! How about a tasty patty or , jerk chicken or fresh catch of the day in some coco bread, all a close walk either way on the beach. I don't stay at the beach..I stay in the cliffs where there's plenty of wonderful local food too & love it..but I go to the beach pretty much everyday. Can't wait to check in & take my first dive into that beautiful warm/turquoise ocean!!!!

If anyone wants to actually let Jimmy Buffett know that they feel dissatisfied with his Cheeseburger In Paradise, it would probably make sense to actually contact the restaurant and not post a general complaint on a message board. The contact information is easily found by googling "margaritaville negril" and clicking on the contact link:

    http://www.margaritavillecaribbean.com/contact.html

There is a mailing address listed, several phone numbers including a fax number as well as an online form to leave the complaint. To post an "angry letter" here or on any message board can only be done with the intention of publicly bashing Margaritaville. Let's be honest and call this thread what it is.

Nick, did you let the manager know of your experience while it was happening? Having been to Margaritaville many times with friends from both foreign and from the island, I know first hand that the managers tend to be very attentive to any problems, and will take the extra steps to ensure that your food is up to your liking. I have been with folks that had their meal comp'd when the problems could not be resolved to their satisfaction. Folks from Kingston are often the hardest to please... (grin)

As for demanding Idaho potatoes, please be aware that Jamaica produces some great potatoes. The companies that service Margaritaville can produce the quality required. No need to demand Idaho taters when the local economy can benefit by using locally grown produce.

There are many great places to eat in Negril and many that serve great cheeseburgers. But there is simply no need for people to jump on a bandwagon and bash any business in Jamaica needlessly. Margaritaville is a chain restaurant and has standards. When these standards are not met, as common sense dictates, please inform the manager first. To publicly use any message forum to express dissatisfaction is not fair to anyone involved when management was not contacted nor the proper contact channels used to address the problem.

Margaritaville is one of the places most frequented in Negril during ATI weekend - when the folks from Kingston come here in mass and give a much needed boost to the local economy. They may not be everyone's first choice of a place to eat, but to suggest there is a "demise" is far from reality. Possibly they were just having a bad day....

Jimmy has been to the Negril Margaritaville several times - I spoke with him a few times while he was in town. And for those who dont know, Jimmy left out the fact he buzzed the beach before his sea-landing up near the Caves in his song... (grin)

They have a good thing going for sure. So much so that they can afford to let quality slip without worrying about the bottom line. As long as Marguretaville is making madd profits they won't really give a damn about quality. Unfortunatley, money RULES!!

I never bother talking to managers. I talk with my feet and go elsewhere. If enough people do that, they'll soon get the message.

In defense of the food at Margaritaville, two friends and I were sitting having a couple of Margaritas last February when we were each given 3 appetizers for no reason we could figure out. They were awesome and the presentation was such that we took pictures of the food. I can't recall what they were but it certainly was something local. I just wish I could track down those pictures to offer up as proof. As an aside, I have never eaten beef in all the times I have visited the Island as those scrawny cattle are just too scary looking, lol.

Rob....My intention is to let JB know that his brand needs a looking after. I would contact him directly if I could, but none of all of those "contacts" go directly to him, and word of mouth travels fast and has a powerful impact. If using N.com this way is a problem then go ahead and take the thread down.
