The only place I ever use a CC in JA is when the hotel wants an imprint for charges to the room. Knock wood, never an issue. Its all cash on the barrel for everything else....

I questioned the fraud squad about how this happens and they made note that the card machines that they carry to our table now can be air jacked with ease, the person running the transaction doesn't even know they have been hijacked. What got me was how quickly they can pick up the security code and card limet with the base information.
I have won many awards in a lifetime of competition and service. But the highest was offered without plaque or fanfare on a hilltop in post Ivan Jamaica. A true Rasta and a dear friend observed "Chet you are like a father of men, you see need and fulfill that need without being asked". Let us be travelers and not tourist.
Same here Rock Robster! We use cash for everything except our deposits when we book our room ahead of time.
We had our card info stolen in Chicago while staying a single night at one of "stay, park and fly" hotels near O'Hare ................. charges were already building before we got on our plane to Jamaica ................... we had notified the credit card company ahead of time of our trip so we had no issues while in Jamaica but the card was turned off in the States ............. upon our return we learned the entire story from the credit card company ............... the front desk people started charging up things within minutes of us getting on the shuttle to the airport ................ police and hotel corporate office notified but we never heard anything back from either one ............... on top of all that, someone stole the license plates off our car while parked in their "secure parking lot" ! ! ! !
