Our credit card # was stolen.
International charges were made to a company called LOVEFILM.COM
Has this happened to any of you?
Our credit card Co. was on it right away and we have now had to get a new card.
I guess in all these years we have been pretty lucky :-( till now. Not so Irie

Sorry to hear that IrieLita It only happened to me once, after a Paypal purchase...but like you, my card company notified me and it was rectified after some e-mails and correspondence.

Hope you are back on track for your next reach!

At least you didn't send a money order or something that is not replaceable. I use cards for just this reason...if stolen perhaps some phone calls but in the end, no financial loss.

It happened to me once. I got a call from my credit card company asking me about the purchases (which I hadn't made) and then canceled the card. I didn't have to pay anything at all thank God. I got a new one three days later. I have no idea how it happened either. Whoever used the number though charged the same amount 10 times - not too bright if you are stealing the number but good news for me.

I had one skimmed in Negril a couple years ago. I purposely use a card there with a low limit and they didn't get much. Plus I objected to the charges and the credit card company reimbursed us. But, all the staff at the resturant that were on duty that night were fired because no one owned up to it and 2 guys at another resort that ran the skimmed card at their resort were fired and jailed.

It has happened to me in Europe and Jamaica and the credit card company notified me, reversed the bogus charges, and issued me a new card. This is not a problem that is exclusive to any particular country.

Hmmmmm, I wrote in October of using a card twice in negril, the second time around 9:00 p.m. (we do our last dinner with a card so that it's not real money, it's magic money on our no limit magic night,,,,, tip still in J cash). By 10:30 p.m. the card was being used from New York City to Miami to Dallas for 10's of thousands of dollars in purchases,,,,, fortunately fraud alert put a hold on purchases until they could talk to us. Tried to do a transaction when we got home and was denied, logged onto internet and was aghast, then we listened to phone messages and realized that fraud alert had been calling. Here we go line by line as they fixed it. Member since the 90's, but that card # is now dead. The real hassle is some auto billing instruments (mydeo, spotify, i-tunes) that had to be changed.

Understand the pain. But even though I'll have my high limiet cards in tow for emergancies, the low limiet guy will make small purchases on the road.

We're under 30 on the sleep count, how about you?

That happened to us too! Our entire checkings account was completely cleared out in the matter of 4 hours!!
The thief even rented a San Francisco hotel room with our credit card number!
We called our credit card company and stopped our card. There was only $32 left, so there wasn't much else left to steal. It was really scary!
We also contacted the hotel manager. Instead of immediately calling the police first, she called the person's hotel room to inquire about the allegations. Naturally he fled. He was gone by the time the police did come.
We were reimbursed but it took a week and we had to get a new card.
It really sucks. Sorry you had to go through this too.

I questioned the fraud squad about how this happens and they made note that the card machines that they carry to our table now can be air jacked with ease, the person running the transaction doesn't even know they have been hijacked. What got me was how quickly they can pick up the security code and card limet with the base information.
