June visit question
We've been going to Negril for over 10 years, love it. We go from 12-25 to 12-31 every year. We miss it so much that we are considering going in June. We have twins aged 4 years. Can some of you please give us your opinions/experiences about the weather. How oppressive is the heat? Do food/juice vendors still cruise the beach. We normally don't stay at a place with a pool preferring the wonderful beach/ocean. We're trying to make a decision on whether to go in June and don't want to torture the kids. If the heat is extreme, maybe we'll stay at a place with a pool and some sort of water park for the kids' benefit. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi vucko....just my two cents....I often go in June because I love off season. But to be honest it is HOT HOT HOT. So if you are used to A/C then I would recommend that you get a place with it. I stay on the cliffs and with the sea breeze and a strong standing fan I am OK. Pool with kids is always a good idea. Stay in the shade when you can, pace yourself and drink plenty of fluids (water type that is in the heat).....don't go hiking in the midday sun (lol) and you will be fine. Low season there is a bit of a decrease in vendors but in my expereience you can get anything you want no matter what month you visit.
Its so cool you are exposing your young ones to the Carribean. Enjoy your reache.

While it is definitely hotter and more humid, I don't think it is a deal breaker. The vendors are still out (maybe not as many), so you will be able to get your juice and fruits. A pool might be good, but to me, the big issue is shade. I find that in the summer, I need to stay in the shade to help deal with the heat. I say go for it!

Used to go in June every year for my birthday. Definately hotter than Christmas time (which IMHO is the coolest time of year in JA), but not so hot that I can't take it. I was there in September last year and realized that it was just too hot for me, probably won't book that month again.

I live in FL & prefer to be in Negril in the summer. It's actually cooler there, nice & breezy. Although it's quite humid, the breeze makes it quite tolerable. Because of the humidity, AC is a must. It's also very comfortable in the shade, in spite of the heat & humidity.
Plenty of vendors. A place on the beach that also has a pool would be ideal.
