I can honestly say that we used to go to Ocho Rios but after a single day in Negril we knew we would never go back there. The boats change Ocho in the snap of a finger and I really didn't care for the town after that. We had lots of fun but it definitely is nothing like being in and around Negril.

If you're looking to party I say go to Kingston. You will love it, check out Devon House, Port Royal, Emancipation Park, go up to Strawberry Hill and see the magnificent views of Kingston.
You will also experience a different vibe and realize not all Jamaican are beggy beggy.
