    Negril and "The Big Lebowski"

Gerryg and I kept crossing paths in Negril.
At one point I told him that the way he portrayed himself in his trip report reminded me of the "Dude" in "The Big Lebowski".

Gerry surprised me by saying he'd never seen the movie.
It's an L.A. movie and Gerry is very much an L.A. guy.

I got to wondering if others on the board are familiar with this film?

Can you see the way the film pertains to time spent in Negril (beyond the obvious one)?

" Nobody calls me Lebowski. You got the wrong guy. I'm the Dude, man"

    "Mind if i do a J?"

El Duderino if you're not in to the whole brevity thing.

My hero too and one of the reasons I'll always (at least so far) back up Gerryg.

    very....
All of my (guy) friends in college had this DVD running on repeat on their TV 24 hours a day, seven days a week. I must have seen it at least 20 times.

    Markus LOVES this movie.
I'm sure once he sees this thread, he will be unable to resisit sharing his own thoughts on this beloved film.

And yeah, I can see Gerryg123 as "The Dude"

Gerry - Seriously? You've never seen "The Big Lebowski"??

"This is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, a lotta outs, a lotta what-have-yous. And, uh, a lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Fortunately, I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, uh, limber."

    I can relate

When I saw the title of this thread the fist thing I did was tell my co-worker who has big poster of "The Dude" in his cubicle. I was forced to watch it when I was promoted into this department. John Goodman's character frustrates me so much that I don't enjoy watching the movie. I just want to reach into the TV, grab him by the neck and yell "wtf are you thinking!"....lol

    Hey phoreskin,
What is an L.A. Guy? Please entertain me as I'm from L.A. as well and can tell you Gerry and I are nothing alike. Lol

Gerry (I believe) is in the entertainment industry.
That seems like an outsider's view of what an LA kind of guy might be.
LA's a big town I'm sure there is room for divergences.
You know more than one kind of LA Guy.
"The Dude was just trying to get his rug back."

"Well that's just like your opinion man."

You make one hell of a Caucasian, Jackie. Already my favorite drink, this movie sealed it for all time. And of course...

How you gonna keep them down on the farm once they've seen Karl Hungus?
