Does anybody know if you can buy the 3G SIM cards for an IPad at the Digicel store? Any idea on cost for the card or the usage charges? Thanks.

I never would have thought I would read a question like that on the Negril board .. sign of the times ..mi gettin old ..maybe time for a cell phone ? heck no !!!!
Digicel is in the process integrating the Claro 3G network into their existing 4G system - and they will be having some new offerings. The transition should be taking place by March 1st - when are you arriving? That may make a difference in the answer of what will work for you. The current cost of a sim card is less than us$7....
Negril.com - For the vacation that never ends!
We begin our 3rd trip to Negril Feb 10...for two weeks. Its a way to be able to communicate with home without the need to use a hotel supplied computer which are usually very busy. Laptop was bigger and the wifi didn't work in our room so I'm thinging the Ipad is an alternative if i can get a local area sim card to get on the 3G network. We own a small business which we close when on vacation, however we still need to communicate with our server daily... Yah it be nice to forget it all for two weeks but unfortunately we can't. Last year we were able to purchase a sim card for my BB and could call home when needed, was fairly inexpensive and worked great.
If that sim card worked in your BB then I would think the same brand will work in your iPad.

That's what I was thinking but just wanted to see if anybody on the board had use one for the iPad.
I will be there on the 2nd of February and the first thing I am going to do is go to DigiCel and grab a sim card for my iPhone 4S. There was a previous thread on here where folks were talking about it working just fine. So I am going to go with that.

There was a girl working at our hotel last week from the states. She had an I phone and just put one of their sim cards in it and it worked fine.
Don't forget that you can alway use a WIFI connection for the IPAD. 3g/4g is simply another option to use when WIFI is unavailable.
