"Someone" just told me that Negril books up pretty quickly for the Fourth of July. Is this true? Any advice? I hope this won't interfere with my last minute planning!

I have visited Negril a few times over July 4th and never found it to be that busy. It is not a holiday in Jamaica. I believe it is the first week of August that can be very busy as that is a time that Jamaicans celebrate.
I have never heard this before and we always travel just a little bit before this time. I think I was getting a "hard sell", so to speak.
We just booked July 1-15 and none of the places we looked at seemed booked at all.
If it's busy, it's because schools in JA start summer break in early July. You'll find more Jamaicans on vacation in Negril then.
July is a quiet month-not anything like the hustle and bustle going on now..Shouldn't have any problem-and rates should be lower..July 4th is not a Jam holiday-BUT their Independence day usually 1st week of Aug.is a HUGE deal to Jamaicans -and many flock to celebrate in Negril....and yes, you will then have a problem finding a place to stay..
" Ones destination is never a place, but rather a new way of looking at things." (Henry Miller)
Last year in July, it was booked solid & busy for weeks where I stay. That's not always the case, but it was noticeable. Busy there but not everywhere. I was in Negril from early June until the end of July & July was BUSY! Again, not the norm.
I know all about ATI, but I'm looking at nowhere close to then. Wow, well, it will be whatever it is....I'll just hope something will be open when we want to go. Luckily my dates are super flexibe.

It probably will be. It's just that some places that are frequented by Jamaicans as well as Americans might be busy. For the most part, plenty of room in Negril. No worries.
Ugh, I see I was typing too fast! FLEXIBLE!
I'm thinking about one of the super cheap AI's...just to be sure of having plenty to eat and drink and still have lots of money to play around with.
