Back when Pirates cave was open you would jump from Pirates and swim in to the cave, the cave had two exits to the top, one came out at Push Carts side of the road and one came out across the street commonly called Josephs' Cave. Well we all now know Pirates is closed, check across the street to see if they still have an entrance, I believe it was an iron welded ladder to the top, it may have rotted out now, hence no way out! Have had boat guys take us through other caves you could actually drive a boat through, I don't know where exactally but any of the Negril boat guys will know, suggest a boat cruise to see from water then note each entrance and ask boat people.

You can also swim and snorkel at Negril Escape (formerly Mariner's)
Marley, I agree about the Pickled Parrot! That was our favorite place to go for a swim or snorkel. My daughters and I would swim all the way into Joseph's cave.

Blue Cave Castle has a cave with steps down to it, you can swim out if it is calm. I suppose if you were having dinner at Teddy's you could probably check it out.

Same here! I used to spend all day there. That was also the first place I ever "jumped from the cliffs"
    Great times, great memories

We had breakfast at Teddy's last week.
Mrs. Peel loved the castle (we poked around in the open rooms) but I got a weird vibe, not off the staff but the guests.
    It was kind of stuffy.

I got a similar feel (what does that mean anyway?) the day we swam down from Xtabi.
At Rockhouse we got out and hung around for a while before swimming back.
At the Castle we just swam to the ladder pod and turned directly around (never got out of the water).

The Pickled Parrot - what a loss, I can't believe the Rockhouse enveloped it so completely, I didn't even recognize the grounds.

I completely forgot about the old Rock Cliff hotel! I'm not sure what's going on with the place, if it's for sale or what. It looked very deserted when we walked past it. But that is a fabulous place to jump off the cliffs and go swimming. They were always nice about letting us walk through the property and go to the cliffs. We always bought a few drinks and felt welcome.

Long Live The Pickled Parrot ..real shame there ..I sure hope Rockhouse doesn't have some "bad" karma coming their way ..
Would LOVE to hear the real story of what happened there .. is it true that the Parrot's owners wife was murdered ??

Right there with everyone else...really miss Pickled Parrot. At Joseph's Cave, we have always had a great time conversing with Miss Mae. Generally we buy a drink and talk a while, then head down to the cave. Last time we were there, we snorkeled but it was tough getting back out there, especially if the water doesn't cooperate...no ladder . One could always enter there and check out the cave, then snorkel down to rockhouse. You should be able to get out easily at the ladder near the restaurant. According to our Jamaican friends, many who work at the resorts....If you enter a resort from the sea, they can't say much(well, they may say something but in reality, one can exit there) However, if one enters from the street, a resort can refuse.

We had this happen one time, when we were out snorkeling with Vincent. We were staying on the cliffs and the sea was so rough that we had to be let off at Seagrapes, I believe that was the name. Anyhow, a guest that was staying there was giving us a hard time, telling us we could not exit there. Vincent assured us that he could say all he wanted but we indeed could exit if we entered from the sea side of the resort. Good to know, for in reality, we didn't have much choice. Good luck and enjoy your cave and snorkel adventures.
