Rum- I love swimming in lakes and rivers in Wisconsin as long as I can't see what I am swimming with. I think if I saw a Northern swimming I would have a heart attack and drown. Seriously, those things scare the bejeezers out of me. You are a very brave man.

Here are more various underwater photos. I have quite a few more uploaded in my negril.com profile for those curious.

    Jamaica Joleen,
I never heard of a northern attack but there have been documented musky-on-swimmer attacks reported in the generally reliable WI Trails magazine.

If you think about it a musky (or a northern) bear a striking resemblance to baracuda - except I rthink muskies get beefier than baracuda.

If you haven't snorkeled Devils Lake it is definitly worth while, possibly the most beautiful location in WI.

Rum- All I know about Northerns is they have big teeth AND (this is a true story) if you catch them ice fishing, put them into a 5 gallon bucket (with no water), take them home and leave them outside at -32 degrees overnight, when you bring them into the house to fillet them and they start to thaw, they come back to life. CREEPY. CREEPY. CREEPY. However, they do make the best pickling!!
I am definitly going to try Devils Lake this summery. Thanks for the advice!!
By the way, tell Mrs. Peel we feel her pain surrounding our Packers.
I leave for Jamaica 03/02 and can't wait. Please keep the trip report going. LOVE the photos and your writing style.
    Joleen
