It only became a heated argument when it was insinuated that we who take the local transportation and pay the going rate are somehow taking advantage of the poor Jamaican taxi drivers who "are hurting and can barely make a living."
The system works, the drivers can make their money and nobody should feel bad about it using the available transportation. JUTA was designed to meet tourism needs on a broader scale. When I want to do a tour or airport run, I call the appropriate people. If I am going to the market or the beach, I'm taking a route cab.
