    Chinaman Shop

Last year our taxi driver took me into the Chinaman shop to by a card for minutes on my borrowed cell. I was so over whelmed in there as people were sticking their money up towards the booth. The taxi man had to do it for me because I was getting no where.
I read here that you can get liquor for a good price in the shop. This may sound like a stupid question but how do I go about paying for the liquor. Is there a way to "deal" with the paying system?

There are two by the Scotia Bank.
If you stood on the Scotia steps and look toward the bay there is a small road between you and one of the "Chinaman" stores.
Another "Chinaman" store is kitty corner from the bank steps and directly across the main road from the first shop I mentioned.
    Does that make sense?

There is another "Chinyman" store up by Sun Island outlet (near Canoe).
I haven't been in that one.

As far as paying, you must have been there at a busy time.
Normally you just pay at the counter - like a Mom & Pop grocery store (do they still exist in the states?).

Beer/Booze prices are best at the "Chinyman" stores (or so I've been told - and it does seem that way).

Thanks all for the info. Must have been 15-20 people sticking their money in the air when I was there. maybe I will go early in the a.m. and have the taxi man come in with me, just in case its a mad house.

A couple of days ago I bought a flat of Cranberry Wata at thr Chiny-Mans (the one on the sea-side across from Scotia bank).
I got 24 bottles for 1350J$ - a very good price. The beer is cherap there too - but it's an experience to shop inthere )

I have to tour through L&M every trip at least once, always pray there isnt an earthquake while I am in there.lol I prefer to shop at Quality Traders the green place near the Hilo it might not be as cheap as the chinaman stores but much nicer.

I love that L&M will take travellers checks and is right outside the BCC but it is jammed, I usually have to ask where things are instead of wandering around to find something. Last year my wife needed a comb but didn't like the few in stock so they got some in the next day just for her.

Poolguy..... does Quality Traders have a good liquor selection? We usually stop at HILO but was considering Quality instead on our way to the West End.
