We're changing hotels and need some help!

This is our only 3rd trip to Negril -- 3rd year in a row though! We have always stayed at the Westender and loved it. This trip, however, we want to stay someplace a little closer to restaurants and places that we can walk to. We had thought the Westender was expensive but now that I am looking at the most popular places on the cliffs or the beach, I see that most places are, in fact, more than I realized.

We need someplace quiet and comfortable so that you feel good hanging out - verandah with a hammock, etc. We are not coming all of the way to Jamaica and not having a view of the ocean - either cliffs or beach. We don't like noise and don't want a big place. We have always travelled and stayed at small cozy places but nice. A bonus would be a fridge and hot plate. I was wondering -- when we have booked at the Westender we have not played the price listed on the website, our price for a week is always discounted. Do other places who list their rooms per night, give a solid discount for a week. We would like to keep the price under 140.00 because we are then moving onto Treasure Beach for a week after Negril and have to save some of those Jamaican dollars!!! So to reiterate...not partiers, we need a pool, it needs to be small, friendly, comfy and economical. (I have scoured all of the hotels on the site but really I couldn't decide because the prices seemed steep to me) By the way we are going end of Feb. first week of March.

You could try Rooms on the Beach - last week of February $ 135.00 per night - this resort is beach side - No fridge but they do have an ice machine if you have a cooler. There also have a new beach bar right next door - Sunnyside I believe it is called - nice folks that ran the For Real bar. Restaurents - / bars - walk left or right.

If I could stay anywhere on the beach it would be one of these places:

    Rondel
    Travellers
    Shields
    Treehouse

Thanks for the suggestions but what I need to know is if the rate as advertised on the website generally what you end up paying if you book a week. I would appreciate it if any old hands have experience that the posted rate is not what you pay if you book for 7 nights...thanks again

Usually for peak season you won't see too many reduced rates. You can always contact and inquire. Return guests may get considerations that first time guests may not. There usually is a phone number to call - sometimes an email address.

Thanks Irie always...It is just confusing because we pay definitely less for the room we had at the Westender than what it was advertised but maybe the first time was to get the week's business and the second time was because they just thought we were great customers!!! We love it out there but we just were thinking something different that's all.
