I have only eaten breakfast there, which was great. But I think you could do better than the rustic cabins for lodging. You mentioned Bar B Barn and it is a wonderful spot with great staff and a cool local vibe, nice bar, and breakfast comes with the room. No sure if you are planning on going after April 15 (low season mark for most places) but if so you can probably negotiate a good rate with them--lower than ones on website.

A couple of pics from breakfast at Kuyaba

    Clarity,
Kuyaba rocks. Depending on budget, I have stayed in the honeymoon suite king suite double rooms and the cottages. There is not a bad room in the place. Only the king suites have jacuzzis. There is a room under the honeymoon suite that is pretty spacious too. Remember Times Square is right across the street for shopping!!

We've stayed in the honeymoon suite and deluxe room. We like the spaciousness of the honeymoon suite, along with its oversized balcony. The bathroom was average, nothing special. It comes with a fridge, in other rooms you have to ask for one in advance and its $5/day. The deluxe had two queen beds, good size room and smaller balcony. Both were on the second floor. The first floor rooms might get more foot traffic noise, esp. in the morning. We took a look at the king suites and they are nice. The bathrooms are very very nice with jacuzzi tub. The cabin closest to the beach is a duplex cabin, I think. The other cabin is closest thing to the road, other than the parking lot. People seemed to like this cabin very much when we were there! They are old school, classic Negril cabins.

We didn't have any noise issues, the a/c drowned everything out. In December, the deluxe room's a/c was more than adequate. In June, the honeymoon suite a/c never did keep up. It is a very quiet property, with no pool. I am learning to live without it! The bar is nice and the staff friendly, but it doesn't stay open late. The food is top notch at all meals. It is our favorite beach hotel, we like the location, the staff, the rooms, the grounds, the food and the vibe. Plus, for 100US in season, you can't beat the price/quality ratio. The beach does expand and contract. In December it seemed slightly smaller than June, but still fine.

If you do go, message me and I'll give you the full low down on Kuyaba!!

Aside from the beach part, have you looked at Citronella on the cliffs?

Come to think of it (and I am sure he will correct me if I am wrong) but I believe the room we visited Mr Twister and wife in was the Honeymoon Suite and it was awesome. The room is very spacious, it is upstairs. There was a full size refrigerator in the room and the balcony was amazing! It had a little swing hammock chair type thing and the room was just really cool. I remember thinking, I could definitely stay here! And I would say perhaps call them and see if you can negotiate a better deal (as that is what I think Twister did)
Good luck on your search! Woo Hoo!

Oh and PS There are two birds on the property that I bet you and Markus would love. Buddy is one of them and I forget the other ones name.

You have received some pretty good advice. As much as I am one of Kuyaba's biggest fans......I can not in any way recommend the rustic cottage. I have stayed in them and never again. You cant go wrong with any other room in the hotel. Great restaurant. Excellent location. We love listening to the Bourbon Beach shows late night while in bed or on the porch. STep next door to Legends for 2 for 1 happy hour every day! Buddy & Charlie are sooooo much fun. They are the resident birds!

Yes Marley....it was the Honeymoon Suite we stayed in.
