I've been staying at Kuyaba for many years...starting in the mid 90's when Kuyaba referred to the restaruant and the hotel was Sea Gem. Love that place and the staff. Actually met, and married, my wife at Kuyaba (several years between the two events).
The honeymoon suite is great and it's the room I've stayed in most...something like 15 times. The balcony is the bomb for chilling out. The bathtub is a regular one w/shower head...I believe the jacuzzi ones are only in the king suites. I stayed in a king suite when they first built them along with the delux rooms...there used to be another rustic cottage or two where the block of delux rooms/king suites stand today...a hurricane wiped those out, if I remember correctly. The K-suites are really nice, and newer than the honeymoon suite, but have very small balconies compared to the H-suite.
Kuyaba is on a great section of the beach. Cambio and mini mart a few doors down. Close to town and the west end. Some people complain about the noise when Bourbon Beach (next doot) has late night shows but I love kicking it on the honeymoon suite balcony listening to the music and tree frogs.
The food is fantastic but the $$ can add up if you eat there a lot. I'd say breakfast/lunch average around $8-$12 pp and dinner around $15-$20 pp...more if you want lobster, steak, etc.
I've seen the beach at Kuyaba come and go over the years, to some degree, but I've never been disappointed. We go in May/June and there's always been enough beach to accommodate at least 2-3 rows of beach chairs. Location is great with lots of options for eats, drinks, etc.
Never had a security problem. Rooms have safes and property access is monitored at night.
Hope this helps.
