Well we have finally arrived in our beloved Jamaica and I must say it feels as wonderful as ever. We arrived early on Thursday morning and we were through immigration in under 10 minutes...was so easy at that time of the day. Our luggage was waiting for us through the doors and we were only in the airport for like 25 minutes top. We stepped through the doors of the exit to the airport and immediately were thankful that we are able to afford these luxuries.
Doc was waiting for us outside the doors and we immediately loaded our gear and headed off to Negril. The amazing feeling of riding through Montego and heading to Negril is infectious. The feeling welling up inside that we would soon be to a place that we consider our second home. I love Jamaica and love Negril above all other places.
We arrived at Mariner's and our room wasn't quite ready but that's fine it was like 9AM. We took some of our swimwear out and stored our bags in their office and headed to the beach. Before I could blink my wife was in the ocean and basking in the glory of the sun and surf. She looked so happy that it was just amazing. So glad that we made it and so glad that she gets to do the thing she loves the most.
What I haven't mentioned before in any of my posts is that my wife was diagnosed with Cancer last April and there was some doubt about whether we were going to be able to make this trip. The stars aligned and we were able to fit this trip in between two phases of her treatment. She is going to be able to recharge and continue to fight when we get home.
After a couple of beers I headed out down the beach to meet up with Newfiesub. I walked a long way to find Fun Holiday. We had a few beers, swapped stories with the bartender and made my way back down the beach.
Clarity, thanks for sharing your stories about Maureen, I stopped at her bar going down the beach and coming back!! She's amazing and I had a tonne of fun with her!
We ended up on the cliffs for some supper at the Canoe and then headed back to room. I hadn't slept in nearly two days. I was exhausted.....but so happy.....
