First time in Jamaica ..

Are cigarettes cheaper there, than in the states? I am wondering, if I should bring them from home. Thank you.

I have found that they are cheaper than we pay in NJ, but not easy to find our brand all of the time. Depending on where you are flying from, we buy at the airport duty free and bring them with us. They are over 1/2 the price at the airport

I quit smoking a year and half ago but I can give my some info. I smoked Marlborough Lights (really Ultra Lights but could not find them in JA). To me the cigarettes tasted a bit off and stronger but that could just be me. So for name brands I paid about $5US a pack. Not sure where you live but some places in US are higher than that. I always took a carton with me just for convenience. That said there are cheaper options for smoking .... CravenA, Matterhorn, roll your own.....all which are cheaper but too strong for me. So it depends a bit on your tastes. There are people that walk the 7 mile beach and sell them and most stores sell them. Depending on how many packs you will need - you can talk to someone about getting you a deal on a carton (Pinkie at the beach Resort BarBBarn has a little store and can get you good deals on carton).

Just out of curiousity How much does a pack of Craven A. cost.
Per pack or single or in a shop?
To me it seems just as expensive to buy cigarettes as where I stay but still cheaper than the U.K.

I think a pack is around $250JD? and singles $50JD? Others will chime in I am sure - I have not bought them just seen people buy them around town.....but may be off on the prices.......

Oh and I think I have paid $5US for a pack on the beach but a bit cheaper at a local store for Jamaican dollars

mi know 2 weeks ago it was $150J's for 5 American cigarettes in a sealed pack........

maybe dat is why so many smoke sumthin other than cigarettes der..........lol
