    What is this Jamaica phenomenon?

I have visited Jamaica six times and from the first trip, I felt so different while I was there, so free.
I thought I was the only one who cried. I thought I was the only one who lost sleep before my trip.
I thought I was the only one who scanned the internet for information about Jamaica, to absorb like a sponge, cause I just could not get enough.
I have been reading the boards for a couple weeks now and I am in aw, that there are so many people who feel like I do.

Someone, I think it was Markus sid people don't jusdge you. You can go there and just be yourself.
I'm not sure what it is, but I would like to hear other's opinions.

I've traveled other places, but never have I felt this way, as I do about Jamaica.

    Thanks

Completely agree! I've been lurking and reading many wonderful posts, finally decided to join the board. I am not sure what it is that keeps us coming back to Negril. We compare Negril to other locations when we go elsewhere and cant seem to match the vibe. It is also the only place where I can eat and drink and not get sick. I liked your analogy of the sponge - yes, we cant get enough. Its so nice to watch the webcasts and see and hear how beautiful it is...cant wait to get back....18 days

you can return to a few yrs ago in your life if you wish, nobody laughs at you for what you look like, or do.................

and you forget your problems........... if you let it happen.......

Have you also noticed that no matter how many times you have been there, know your routines etc. The closer it gets to your trip the more time you spend here reading everything you can.

My wife has been trying to figure this out as well. She says gets on the plane with me, but she gets off the plane with someone else. I keep looking for that other person but I can't see him.

Nail on the head Sherm. After 25 years Negril is where I found myself, leave myself and go back to be myself.
Rise early, treat everyday as though it's your last and your last day as it's your first.

My boyfriend and I recently returned from our first trip to Negril~and I can't agree with you more. Besides the anxiety I felt about traveling to somewhere I'd never been before (and first plane ride, too!), once I got there I could feel that we were somewhere very special. I felt very welcomed. I know we'll be traveling to Negril for many more years to come!
