It is a combination of many things, but it's hard to put your finger on just what brings us back. It starts with the anticipation of the trip. Then the flight to Mo-Bay. The endorphins really get stimulated when they open the cabin door and the heavy tropical air rushes into the plane. Heck, I even enjoy the customs & immigration lines. How can anyone forget their first bus ride from the airport to Negril? Mine was in 1988, and the road was curvy and bumpy, goats and chickens crossing everywhere, stopping at the Lollypop for a Red Stripe, I remember it like it was yesterday, and I still look forward to the hour long ride. Once in Negril, we seem to become the people we always wanted to be, we slow ourselves down to the local tempo, accept the "soon come" frame of mind, and try not to think about the day we have to leave.
I'm one of the few boardies who don't live and die with Negril or Jamaica for that matter. Everyone travels differently, and I like something new for each trip, so I tend not travel to the same place every year. To me that is just stale with no adventure. But, that is just me. For me travel is adventure, not sitting on a beach with a red stripe.

Bob
I have a new adventure every time I go to Jamaica. See new places I haven't seen before, meet new people. Even have different adventures at the same place I visited before. I'm not one to sit on the beach and drink Red Stripe. I get bored fast. This year I did the One Love Bus Bar Crawl, parasailed and the highlight of the trip was visiting a school and gave out school supplies to 3, 4 and 5 year old kids. Some amazing places and met some amazing people. There's so much more I haven't done or seen yet. The key is to get off the resort and off the beach. Eat where the locals eat, go where the locals go. That's the main reason I won't do AI resorts. If you stay on the resort, I don't think it matters what country you go to. There's beaches and beer everywhere. It's the Jamaican people that keep me coming back.
