I did phone, 1 week prior to my arrival and was told everything was ok.

Rob, you keep using the name Mariners, but as mentioned this name is no where on my reservation. Just to be clear folks - I am not confused, I am not new to Negril and I knew where I was going and the difference between Jean and "the other side" but still....

Thanks Booger, you seem to understand my pov.

Funny, many of the locals refer to it all as Beach Club(period)!

My last word on this - if they are 'truly' seperate entities, than seperate them already!

Did you, or did you not, book with Jean Gaynair's NBCC? If you booked with Negril Beach Club Resort, you did not. Similar names and/or shared facilities does not mean you booked with Jean's establishment. They are seperate entities, there is no trying to make it so.

.......if you haven't thoroughly read the thread you shouldn't be questioning me.

No offense, but I did read it thoroughly. I have no problem with reading comprehension. What I haven't seen you is outright claiming to have booked with Jean Gaynair's establishment. You have claimed, however, that because they are 'similarly named' and share 'facilities' that it was NBCC you booked with, even when others are telling you that it was the formerly known Mariner's you booked.

I can certainly empathize with your problem, but not with blaming an innocent place in all of this. It seems as though NBCC is also a victim.

    LuvJaBad,

The NBCC and the Negril Beach Club Reosrt are on the same physical location on the beach. But yes, they are two completely separate business entities. They have their own set of rooms that each rents on the property. Each are responsible for their own rooms.

As mentioned, the NBCC is a timeshare coop. In vacation areas, timeshares can be found. Vacations buy a "time period" that they "own" for that room. They can rent it out or use it each year. The NBCC is the business that handles the rental for those those timeshare rooms as well as other rooms that they purchased. The Negril Beach Club Resort does not handle the timeshare units, the NBCC does.

They do not share the same office and you must check in to each resort in separate areas. They do share some of the facilities, but each pays its own share for the use as they are separate entities.

As mentioned, there is no listing on Expedia for the Negril Beach Club Condos. You could not have booked the NBCC through Expedia. The business you booked is called the Negril Beach Club Resort. Although the name Mariner's is still on the wall out front, they must have dropped the Mariner's name on Expedia. Regardless, the Negril Beach Club Condos did nothing wrong to you, they did not overbook your reservation and they did not change your reservation to the Caribbean Sunset.

The Negril Beach Club Resort did overbook your reservation and they did change your reservation to their own sister property the Caribbean Sunset.

Apparently you are confused at how the two businesses operate which is understandable because it is a very unusual relationship. But there is still no reason to blame the wrong business and once informed of this error, to continue to blame the wrong business. To blame the wrong business is extremely unfair and does nothing to warn future visitors about the problem you experienced.

Let's say, god forbid, you reserve a room with Jean at the Negril Beach Club Condos, but it turns out there is an overbooking or for some other reason you can't check in to a room. Does NBCC grant you a room at Negril Beach Club RESORT right down the hall which has, say, TEN rooms available, or does NBCC transfer you to an entirely different hotel while ignoring the availability of rooms at Negril Beach Club Resort?

If they bump you to a different hotel, then you have a point, Rob. If NBCC bumps you to NBCR/Mariner's, then something smells like fish ....

    Booger...Jane's persistance??
Actually, it was me that had to fix it and I don't think Jane would mind me telling you that...since we were all very frustrated. And, in the case of Catcha...they had the advantage of having the same owner...but it still took over a year to resolve it.
In the case of NBCC & Mariners/NBCR...these are completely separate entities...verification has to come from both parties...unlike Catcha with the same owner. It took Catcha a year to resolve it...I wonder how long poor Jean would have to deal with this? If she was actually able to do anything at all? And, that is just for ONE website!!

I stand corrected. Thanks for clarifying Bnewb.
