Look, hotels overbook as a matter of policy. When I worked in the hotel biz we'd regularly go to 110% occupancy. Why? Because OUR cancellation policy did not involve any charges if a cancellation was made 24 hours in advance. In the US that happens regularly. Most times we'd be fine even if overbooked but when we weren't our guests would be moved to a property of the same or BETTER caliber - at the same rate they were to pay us.

Ah, but that is the US. This is Jamaica. From what I've heard cancellation policies come with penalties if a room is cancelled TWO WEEKS or less out. So now you have money involved which should guarantee the hotel owner that the person will either show up or pay up. Either way, small properties like NBCC as well as large All Inclusive properties seem to do the overbook thing on a routine basis. The rub here is that the small independent hotels need to come together so that the guest can be made happy with a lateral or VERTICAL move up.

NBCC to Carribean Sunset? Apples and oranges but consider the time of year. It is frenetically busy in town right now - it always is the first two weeks of February. It is possible that NBCC's regular "go to" beach hotel for this type of thing is sold out solid. CS, not so much - it is much lesser known, in a "weird" location...yadda.

I would not be happy with that move at all. But I'm not sure what one can really do about it?

Being bumped is understandable, my issue was the place they bumped me to!

Fortunately, I booked with Expedia and they took VERY good care of me and I did NOT end up staying at CS.

Question Negril Beach Club RESORT or Negril Beach Club CONDOS

I was told by the ladies at the Beach Club CONDOS about 2 years ago that they would no longer be booking through Expedia and to book directly with them through email or over the phone. It appears that you booked with Negril Beach Club RESORT (Mariners) and not with Jean Gaynair.

If this is the case I would hope that the title of the thread could be changed to reflect that. NBCC is a separate business from the one I believe you have a problem with and shouldn't suffer the bad press.

It's a shame that the new owners of the Mariners part of the property chose such a similar name. This is probably the third or fourth time I've seen the two mixed up.
