    RE: Claro to Digicel

Anyone know about the Claro to Digicel deal? We can not find any place in Negril or Sav to swap our Claro stick in for a digicel stick . Also, we can't find any Claro cards around to top of the stick and nor can we top it up on line..... Ughhhh

Any Help would be nice & Tanks

    HappyGal,

We have been topping ours up at the old Claro store in Kings Plaza. This sign is gone but they were open on Saturday. They dont sell cards, the will transfer credit to the card.

To swap your old modem, go to the Digicel Store next to the Burger King - they said they were getting in modems yesterday. There has been a run on those - so keep checking with them if they dont have them in stock.

Rob, If I bring an unlocked cell, (nokia) can I just buy a new sim from Digicel and activate it myself, or will they need to do it?

i also have the claro motem but claro discontinued my plan in the middle of the month after i already paid for the whole month. went to digicel and they gave me new digicel sim card to put in it. they did not offer me a digicel motem so i am unable to get the 4G network. i settled for digicel 3G network which works about the same as what i had with claro. digicel neglected to give me the directions the first time i went there so make sure you get the written instructions on how to convert and sign up. it was a real pain and took 2 trips but i am online again. hope this helps.

I went to Digi today, the company is out of the 3G modems, but they also know people need them. I will be checking again next week.

Dont fret, I have been dealing with the internet on the island since before there was internet on the island. We are in a much better position than we were even 2 years ago! No worries...

    Hi Rob,

Have you heard anything from Digicel yet. We are still waiting on service trade in options?

    Thanks,

You can do that - I have a Nokia I was given in Ghana and it has also been my Jamaica phone for years. Just make sure that the unlocked cell you bring is on the right frequencies. I also had one that would only work with Lime or Claro - Not Digicel...
