Now that we are settled back into the normal grind I thought maybe it would be a good time to write a trip report and relive our first trip to Jamaica. Let me start with a little background on how we got there….
It was a pretty brutal winter last year when Beth (my girlfriend) and I decided that the following winter we would plan a trip to break up the monotony of cold, snow and ice. Knowing full well that Beth has never and likely would never fly, I assumed our possibilities would be limited to a cruise or a road trip somewhere down south. Much to my surprise she was open to my suggestion that we fly to Jamaica! The search was on……
The obvious first step was to look on the many travel sites for deals. The all inclusive resorts were attractive but I wanted more of a Jamaican experience, not a prepackaged candy coated version. I spent a few more days in my free time searching the internet for suggestions. That’s when I found negril.com and realnegril.com. After reading through the many message board posts it became very clear that we found our destination. Then the search for where to stay began.
I assumed Beth would want to stay on the beach because when one thinks of a vacation in Jamaica the image of sun, sand and blue water is always what comes to mind. I personally thought the cliffs would be more my style. I had my eye on the Blue Cave Castle but never said much of anything to Beth about it. Since she was willing to overcome her fear of flying, I thought I’d let her have full say on where we would stay. I knew any place would be better than the cold of the northeast in February.
It was looking like Fun Holiday was going to be our place. We liked the idea of being able to purchase all inclusive on a day to day basis. We were close to booking when Beth admitted to me that she had her eye on another place. She pulled up the Blue Cave Castle website and said how much she liked the looks of it. Of course I instantly admitted that was where I wanted to stay all along. Apparently she wasn’t as set on the beach as I thought she would be. BCC it was!
