DO NOT spend another moment worrying about GP. I just returned from my second trip there on Feb 19, and spent 15 wonderful nights at Negril's best kept secret. There are more than enough chair/loungers there, but the spots under the trees, go first. If you avoid staying at GP because of this, it would be so silly. The staff is very friendly and they want to please you. The grounds are very pretty, and the rooms are colorful Jamaican cottages and are kept clean. When we were gathered around the bar at night , dancing to the music, I thought how much fun this place must look to someone walking down the beach.[ If I wasn't already staying there, I would wish I was.] There are enough other guests to make it fun, but you never feel crowded. I would advise you NOT to cancel GP. Another perk, is you can hear the music from Alfred's sitting on the comfort of the GP beach at night , w/o paying or being in a crowd. I was in the pool, which was not under construction. The pool is very nice, located on the garden side, and rarely used so you would have no problem doing laps. The hot tub is located near the beach and was closed for maintenance for a few days, while I was there, then was up and running. You will find a way to arrange your beach lounges, and you will be glad you didn't pay more for another AI. The food is buffet and I never went hungry. The GP location is the heart of the 7 mile beach. This hotel is totally laid back and welcoming to it's guests, w/o hassling them about** 'anything'.**despite what you might have heard. Go for it!
Im a frequent stayer......just love the place...many stories on my trip report below.......
negrilaholic-
Have been to GP many times and you will love it (IMHO). Great location, great staff, great selection of food (even for a prolonged stay). Going during off season, you can also find great deals. While it is true that they used to close for a couple of months during slow season, the new mindset since Sandals actually took over and changed the name ( from Negril Gardens) has been to stay open and discount their prices. My suggestion would be to not book a manor room, but a cottage on either side of the road. I (we) personally prefer the garden side, but to each their own. Either way I think you will truly enjoy the feel of this resort.

Thanks for the feedback, I am looking forward to my stay! I am going to go ahead and do this for two weeks, first week at Grand Pineapple with my friend Lori, and second week at Summerset Village again..they have rooms starting at $38 a night there, and was pretty happy with my last stay, so am going to do that again, since for me, one week is simply not enough!
I'm going to go ahead and buy the ticket in April and hope plane tickets haven't gone up by then, but it will take me until then to have the money for it.
You have made an EXCELLENT choice in Grand Pineapple, so don't worry about it! It is an AWESOME place - so much so that we will be making our 5th trip there in June. Believe it or not, I have NEVER been in the pool in all of the times we've gone. As someone mentioned, it is across the street on the "garden side". Everything you need is on the "beach side" (office, giftshop, bar, restaurant etc..), so I don't even go across the street except to get my massages at the spa (which are great by the way). Relax! The location on the beach is PERFECT!! You and your friend will have a GREAT time.
Thanks! Only reason I have a need for a pool is I love to swim, but the ocean at night is not for me, so pool it is after sundown, lol!![]()
Dear Ms Mermaid,
So nice of you to be so considerate of your friends wishes.
