I don't get it, either. I'm happy to just be there!

The fact that a young girl even knows what the Star rating is, is weird to me. That comes from the parents, surely.
At that age, the thought never crossed my mind about the hotel. The only thing I was concerned with was how cool the pool was or what fun place we were going. My parents made the decision on the room and I could care less, I can't recall ever having any feelings about the room because we were pretty much only there to wash up and sleep. The only exception to that was when we went to Niagra Falls when I was probably 8 and we had a room that had a vibrating bed....do you remember those? You put a quarter in and the whole bed vibrated. At the time I thought that was about the coolest thing ever!
    LOL

Of course, it comes from the parents. I used to work for a travel agent who "specfically" told me her daughters have NEVER stayed at a budget hotel & her idea of budget was a Best Western.....

You've raised her well. Love her response. It reminds me of when I was a young girl and my neighbors (who happened to also be my cousins) made a smart comment to me that her parents owned THEIR house, and mine RENTED. Like they were better than we were! We all put our pants on one leg at a time, and it doesn't matter where we stay. If someone looks down on it, no one is going to look up at them for it.

LOL! Vibrating beds kick ass... I remember pulling up to the KOA and hoping they had a pool.

I have never stayed in what someone would consider a "5 Star" Hotel/Inn. But some are better than others in some ways. Which doesn't make them bad, just maybe something to be aware of. Never had a "bad" stay in Negril, some places could be better, but the good out weights the bad of a given location so far.

It's also nice to hear young people appreciate what their parents have shown them, not by just wealth and status...But a caring for people and culture. And thankful for what has been given. Not seen as much these days. You should be proud.

Yes, it comes from the parents for sure.
