The world would be a better place if people occasionaly thought about how their actions may effect others. The world may never be a better place.

One time these two ladies sat next to me and started smoking cigarettes. I politely asked them to either not smoke or move because cig smoke gives me a headache. I mean afterall, I was there first, right? Well not only did they not move, but those two witches made my stay miserable until they left. Some people don’t realize they are being discourteous and others do. So now, since I can’t tell the difference I’m happy to be the one to move. Yes even if it means picking up my blanket, towel and the rest of my 6-pack.

I could never understand inconsiderate smokers. And I don't care if many others do it, maybe it's because I'm a vet and we always had to "police" our butts, but I hate people who smoke and then litter their butts all over the place too!

Did the flick their butts in the sand when they were done? First, they subject a perfect stranger to the deadly effects of second hand smoke, then they litter. I would love for a smoker to explain why they think it is okay to simply discard their butts wherever it may be convenient for them.

i dont know - i might be the sole voice of opposition - on the music i mean - i think when someone is on vacation they should be able to listen to there music on the beach.. volume limits i get - but i am the guy with a ipod on a cheapo speaker dock from ebay jammin out - i am playing dancehall and reggae - but if i was a top 40 guy - thats what i would play - and i guess being a spoiled american - i would expect to be able to do it on the beach..

i dont smoke - but grew up in a family of smokers, so i am used to it i guess, but i also wouldnt appreciate inconsiderate smokers.. ive never been close enough to be bothered by a smoker.. i dont condone littering either

Good grief ..if you can't handle a smoker on the beach ..and yes I do mind my butts .. how in the world do you eat anywhere ..or sit at a bar ? Complaining of smoke in Jamaica is like complaining of snow on a Canadian winter vacation ..

To me, respect means respecting others and their own entitlement to some privacy.....blaring a boom box is disrespectful, period, when others are around trying to enjoy their own moments.......

There are cities where smoking in a restaurant/bar or even in a public park and on the beach is illegal. When you are a non smoker and live in this type of city, you grow less and less accustomed to smelling smoke and it becomes more of a bother when you are actually around it, say on the beach in JA.
I hope this helps you understand why/how some people would be bothered by the smoke on the beach.

The one thing I love about Jamaica is that there is ALWAYS music somewhere, every hour of the day and night. I enjoy most reggae, but am not a big fan of some rap-type rhythms. However, when on the 7 mile beach .... there's no escaping it .... so I just chill and try to get into it the best I can ..... it is, after all, a public beach - I expect the others to be doing what they enjoy, whether it's 'not so great' music to my ears, or whether they're smoking or cussing, or whether they're wearing embarrassingly skimpy beachwear .... it's all good to the beholder. It'd be a sorry world if everybody played only the music I most prefer .... Latin rhythms and classical guitar : )

Most public places now no longer allow smoking. I can't even remember when restaurants in my area had smokers.
