    Summerset Village Review

I just realized that I never did post a review of the place I stayed at for twenty six days last November in Negril, Summerset Village.

I got a room with air conditioning, tv, minifridge, and it had a swimming pool and restaurant on site for roughly $350 for the entire time, not bad at all, and was very happy! The restaurant service was excellent for breakfast, ackee and saltfish was about $450J, pretty decent lunches, don't remember eating a dinner there, so can't really say anything about that. I did have a problem with the ac leaking the first few days I was there, but it was fixed by day three, and the swimming pool had just been resurfaced and it took a few days to refill it since they did it by hose because it would have taken more money to have water trucked in, but it was all resolved fine, and the maid service was great too.

Distance on the side road to the main road was about the same as it is to Seastar to the main road, to use as a reference, and while it is residential, there was one 'gift shack' run by an older guy who was pretty nice, bought a towel from him, and also on the way there was a house that was partly unfinished being used as a garage of sorts where guys would hang out and work on their cars. Never had any problems at all. There is also a craft area on the corner, and they have some cool stuff there.

My bed was comfy, bathroom was spotless and shower pressure decent, and maid service was excellent..was able to make arrangements every five or six days or so to have laundry done, no problem.

If I would have one complaint, it would be that the guy who worked the bar/restaurant wasn't always around easily but it was pretty off season and this is a more residential kind of place than a 'resort', but there were short term visitors there as well as long term. There were some German tourists there, and some Canadian long term guests I got to meet and chat/hang with.

I will stay there again in a heartbeat. Now for my next trip, my friend is coming with me and she wants to do AI so we're going to Grand Pineapple for a week come August, but when she leaves, I plan on spending my second week back at Summerset Village..I really love that place!

And now, picture time! I'm going to have to go four at a time, going from photobucket, so will start off with the interior:

I didn't really need a bedspread and wasn't using it, so they remade my bed one day with only the sheet, but then I said I wanted just a light cotton blanket, and they got me one..I also need to say I was very pleasantly surprised by how nice and fluffy the pillows were too, I hate flat pillows. Here are some pics taken later on during my stay of the room..another thing I loved about my room was that they had a bookcase area on my headboard where I could keep my books on..and I did bring a lot of books, lol!

now it's time for pool/restaurant pics:

Now the pool was fresh and sparkling clean, only complaint I had was not enough shade! I didn't mind the fact that the lounge chairs were pretty worn out, but definitely could have used more shade, but it's not really a huge deal.
