Captain Moses picks us up at our hotel and takes us down to the long beach. He tells us there are 11 on boat the going out to Booby Cay for lunch and almost everyone is from Wisconsin. He proudly shows us the Green Bay Packer shirt his friends from Delafield, WI gave him.

We ask about price and he says $100 US per person for the entire day and includes the sunset cruise to Rick’s. We tell him we want to pass on the sunset cruise and hoped to be back on the beach by 2 or 3 pm. He says $60 US per person then. We agree to same. Note, we almost always pay asking price in Jamaica on excursions.

Most of the group meets at Rooms on The Beach and we all get on the boat. There was one couple on there that was not from WI. They were from Thunder Bay Ontario and were really fun.

When we got to Booby Cay, a few got off the boat and most stayed on to go out Snorkeling. Captain’s assistant (Rohan) took us out snorkeling while Captain stayed back to cook our lunch.

Glen went out with us but did not snorkel. The sea was a bit rough and he is not much of a swimmer. I wrapped a life vest around my waist, donned flippers, mask and snorkel and jumped in. I LOVE SNORKELING!! I saw so many beautiful things from corals to fish to plant life. AND NO LION FISH (Thank goodness Clarity!!) For me, snorkeling feels like I am breathing underwater.

Rohan jumped in and motioned to the group that he was going to take us to the cannon and the anchor. I followed him and saw the cannon. Honestly I did not think it was that big of deal, in comparison to all the sea life. At some point, several (I think this is what they are called) Sargeant fish sort of swarmed me…….not in a scary way but a beautiful way. I found myself swimming with them and realized I was back at the boat. I decided to get out of the water at this point and Rohan said- “Hey sister- where you go? I was goin to show you de anchor”. I toldn him I was captivated by the Sargeant fish and apologized. That was when I found out that Rohan and the couple from Ontarioro were stung by jelly fish. Don’t you just love it when God’s blessings come in the form of nature? Had it not been for the Sargeant fish, I probably would have been stung by jelly fish and anyone who knows me will attest that had that happened, my world would have come to an end. (OK I can be a little dramatic).

After snorkeling, we were treated to the best lobster, rice and beans, vegetables, curried conch and escovitch fish we have ever had. And, after swimming and the excitement of the day, we were hungry.

Soon it was 2 pm, Glen paid Captain Moses the agreed upon $120 (SO WORTH IT) and thanked him and told him we would see him next year. Rohan took us back to the RIU- via water and Glen handed him $1000 J and thanked him for the great snorkeling trip.

Once back at RIU, we realize we are starving. We hit the midday buffet for a bunch of junk food……..chips, fried chicken, etc. We walked up to Club RIU and looked for some people we knew and did not find them. Returned back to our room and got ready for our dinner reservations at the Japanese restaurant. After dinner, went to bed early. [/COLOR]
