Trip report a few weeks old...better late than never

I'm afraid I don't keep a log of my daily comings and goings, but it would no way match the adventures of others anyway.
The best I can do is give a summary of our stay, some highlights and throw in a few pictures. I know I enjoy reading trip reports
no matter how long or short they may be.
The last time we were in Negril together was early 2010 with me making a solo trip in the fall of 2010.
Life got in the way of a return last year (as it does for many) and we finally decided to go no matter what.
At Thanksgiving my sister had a tragic accident on the weekend that my wife and I were supposed to be moving out of state. Also at Christmas my mother-in-law pass away from a long illness. That coupled with the move out of state for a new job and we NEEDED some stress relief.
I made contact with our timeshare in Negril and was assured there was space. We made air reservations at a great price
and then started searching for animal sitters. Where we came from we had several options for that and there was
normally never a problem. WELL, here we are in a new city, new state, no friends or relatives...no one.
As luck would have it, my son in the Air Force had some leave coming and offered to fly up, and watch the critters for the week.
He had some school papers to write and finals online to take and said, no problem I can come. What a relief.
We have an old 18 y/o dog who needs special attention and another dog on daily meds and boarding is just not an option.
Ok, all loose ends taken care of, we've off. Connected through Charlotte, arrive early, no problem making connection, this is a breeze.
Next stop MoBay, no issues there either, quickly through to buses...get hooked up at Juta Negril,
no passengers but us yet, go grab 2 beers,
come back, another couple and a single gal in the bus, we are outta there and on the way.
We finally can relax after a stressful fall and early winter....or so we thought.
First couple gets dropped off, the it's our turn, Beachcomber.
We're so glad to be here, and hello...its us...who? We have no booking for you........what?

Sorry...had to run the old dog to the vet....it never ends....
OK,....we're at the front desk....the gal calls the reservation manager, no I would never have confirmed for that week..it's busy and we're full. But you did...call the owner....hello, I Mr. C, I just talked to my reservation manager and she said she did not confirm. Ok, I see what's going on, she agreed and now is convering her tracks with her boss.
Sorry sir, we are full, there's nothing I can do.
This is where the disconnect for me comes....there's nothing you can do? Do you have a plan for over flow, someone you use as a back up?
No sir, I'm sorry we are full.....I hang up ....my wife gets this look, no she has never seen me hang up on someone before, I'm pretty laid back.
The front desk staff, now 3 strong as the shift is changing, stares at me.....like...gee, what are you going to do? I thought or was under the impression that the majority of hotel staff go to a hotel votec of some kind....you know the kind that teaches CUSTOMER SERVICE????

Nothing but blank stares. I ask as nicely as I can. Can we store our bags here while we try to find something? Ya mon...gee thanks.
We walk to the north, past Marguaritavlle, walk into Crystal Waters. Do you have any rooms? No, sorry we are full. I explain our situation, she says, oh, do you want me to call around and see if I can find something? Oh my God, YES please. Remember this girl folks, her name is Nelissa, kind friendly and she just won some customers when we return, we will someday stay there and will recommend it.
She calls the usual suspects....Tree house..full, Country Country ..full...on and on. Finally, I say....hey, back in the early 90's we stayed at a little place called Our Past Time....check them. She calls, we just had a check out, one room, the price is usually blah blah, but we will DISCOUNT it for you! Thank you thank you....Nelissa, I WILL NOT forget about Crystal Waters.

Walk, almost run back to Beachcomber, grab our bags and head for the street. Sparrow is across the road, we've used him before, run acorss the street and say hey, can you bring us down to Our Past Times...sure mon, no problem.
On the ride, I'm thinking.....gee do I even have a credit card with me that will pay the week. I travel light and had budgeted for the maint fee on a time share...oh well, we'll see if it passes! It did, got checked in.....MORE stressed than when we started.

I was still foaming at the mouth. We were the SECOND sale of a time share at Beachcomber and the guy can't even SUGGEST an alternate place. OKOK, settle down, thats the last I will say about that.
We are in Negril, we now have a room, lets go get a drink.
Our Past Time has a nice little bar, right on the beach. Rum punch please.....maybe 2.
