I would think the cable in Jamaica would be digital, this is for analog only, best connections is VGA is poor for HD........if they would take it back if it didn't work, it might be worth trying for the 50 bucks
"One of the laundry gals pipes up ,,"LOOK AT DA BLOOD"
"YES,THAT WOULD BE MINE" I said as my leg that at first gave no pain, started dishing it out in large bunches........"

I have no clue of the answer but I do know that one cannot view Netflix movies in Jamaica or if you have Amazon Prime...no go on movies either. Good luck!

Did some quick googling....

I was watching Netflix in Jamaica on my MacBook Pro and iPad.I have a Canadian account.
Absolutely will not work.. For a couple of different reasons.
The item for sale uses the PAL format for displaying TV. Jamaica broadcasts are NTSC format.
Also this device hooks to a computer monitor VGA port. Laptops normally only have a VGA output port, but not an input port.
I would look at a USB external tuner like the ones made by Hauppauge. They are cheap and easy to use wit h a laptop.
will this work ?

Mick, you have really opened up a can of worms with this one.... the short answer is probably not, and even worse, you are going to have a very difficult time getting your hands on one that will work in the UK. Unless you are REALLY interested in what's going on, you can probably stop reading now.
It's all a lot more complex and confused than I intially thought. BUT the geek in me just won't let it go so I did a lot more googling.
The long answer is ........
The stick in the link above is for the digital DTB-T2 standard which is currently the standard for Europe and the UK among other places for HD digital TV transmissions. The US and Canada uses ATSC exclusively now for broadcast. The US used to use NTSC for broadcast but that went away when the FCC mandated the change to digital. Tuners for one standard will not work for the other.
All that aside... What does Jamaica use? The best I can figure, they are still NTSC. I also do not ever remember seeing a TV in Jamaica that was not connected to a Satellite box.... So I am not even sure getting TV over the air is even done there. I found several maps that showed which digital standard is used where, and Jamaica is listed as having no standard on all of them. Unfortunately, it looks like almost everything you can buy in the UK is DVB-T2 and everything in the US is ATSC now. There does not seem to be many USB analog NTSC tuners available anymore. For you it could be even tougher, as you need to find a US style NTSC analog tuner versus the PAL version.
