    Question Negril Gym

OK I used to think anyone who worked out while on vacation was crazy but......I have been working with a trainer for 6 weeks and don't want to lose the great momentum and results I have going.

So.....does anyone know how much it costs to join the Negril Gym on the beach road? Also what they have available? Any other workout options in Negril at resorts?

I know I can swim and walk but I made a committment to stick with a certain program for six months.
Any info appreciated. I tried to do a search but didn't come up with anything.

    Soon come
    (maybe sooner than planned)

It's not crazy. I teach an exercise class and I work out all the time, even on vacation. If you can't get a membership, there are some really good exercises you can do on your own

    lol @ Rambo
All I really need is a treadmill and free weights but I know that is asking a lot (ha)

Good to know I am not crazy tfw73 - I know I can bring hand weights and bungee, jumprope, walk, swim, etc. but I really want to stick as close to my routine as possible - 4 days treadmill at 2.7 at 4 incline for 45 min and 2 days a week half cardio and half strength training for a hour. This is for optimum weight loss and I have a long way to go so its a real committment and I do best with a routine.

I will get by but if anyone has info I would be happy to get it. Not gonna stress about it.
    Thanks for responding.

If you don't want to take all that equipment, you can do some basic exercises like push-ups (works every muscle in your body!), squats, lunges, and some different ab exercises. We do those four basics in boot camp all the time and you can NOT beat it! Also, there is a new trend in exercise, I'll have to google the name....I can't remember it. Basically, it's three exercises with a 20 second on, 20 second off, and repeat that three times and then rest for two minutes. Three rounds of that. It sounds easy but it is hardddddd, lol. It gives you that burst of a work out, but keeps the cortisol from building up in your body.

thanks tfw - if I have to those are good ones for sure. Sounds similar to my current circuit training. We do about 20 reps on each station (medicine ball, stepper, bungie squats, ropes, crunches, free weights, leg press, even hula hoop (lol). We do 3 cycles & it changes. Treadmill before and after.
I will be on a long stay so hoping to find a gym to ensure I am consistent but thanks for your support - it means a lot.

tell your trainer what you might be facing - no gym - or minimal workout equipment and he may design a new routine for you with activities that are readily available to do in jamaica

-you may want to talk to him about menu ideas too - so you can eat the healthiest while you are there - and not just succumb to the - "it's good for you" line

    - i have never done a calorie count on jamaica food - i don't want to even think how many calories are in some of my favorites - the devil are in the sauces (gravy) - a calorie count of my beloved oxtails would probably make me croak - lol

thanks Seveen good advice. It is going to be challenging for sure. fresh OJ for instance is something my trainer told me not to have because of the sugar content. I think I just don't trust myself and I am nervous without her which is why I have her in the first place (lol). Oh well if no one comes up with info on gym I will be fine or I will delay my trip until its a safer time to venture off course. Thanks all

Sweetness, last time lil jamb was in Negril (June 2011) the gym charged us $35 for 6 or 7 days. Lil jamb said very basic gym, but definitely got the job done for a week. He did not use the treadmill but said he saw one in there. Said free weights and dumbells were fine.

If you are there for longer stay could be better pricing.
