I've been home exactly one week and am wishing I was back there already. This was my longest trip to JA and my most memorable. I met a lot of new and old friends again.
I hadn't been in three years. It was just amazing. I got two massages, went on a couple of day trips, saw two artists, and ate fruit I've never tried before.. Oh, I finally went to the Jungle. lol.
I see the April boardies are getting ready for their trip. I hope I can get some of you to fight the sand gravity and get out there and see another part of the island. do something different.
While there I wrote about what I did everyday, but I lost my notebook and now I have to commit to memory. Everything seems meshed together, so I guess I'll just highlight
my most memorable moments on a Brasi scale of 5.0.
Right now, I'm looking at a video I took at the Boat Bar with Otis Gayle ( http://jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/2.../ent/ent2.html ) singing and the Hiyah Grade band backing him.
The sound on the video is not too good (my likkle cheap camera couldn't handle the sound system) but believe when I tell you the band and plethora of singers did an awesome job.
Tuesdays and Fridays, after 2PM at the Boat Bar is where it's at.
The trumpet player (forgot his name) is everywhere as are the musicians playing seen and unseen on this video. They had the place jamming, dancing and drinking.
These guys work hard and you can see them almost anywhere. This day they played for four hours straight with a 10 minute break--from 2-6 PM.
I saw any combination of them at the Boat Bar, Bourban Beach, Alfred's, Roots Bamboo, and Coral Seas Garden.
You can tell they love what they do, however receive little compensation for their hard work. Be sure to leave a tip in the box however small it may be, they will definitely appreciate it.
