Great report you two.
Great report you two.
Thanks MofromMonroe, Beachin.Ann, and Aimbri!!
I did!
The first jump is just the hardest. I felt a massive rush of vertigo. For a moment, I was just paralyzed with fear.
When you stand on the edge of a cliff like that for so long, it attracts a lot of attention. Half of the Catcha resort was watching from the lounge chairs on the far left and they all started shouting out instructions.
"Cross your arms over your chest!! Yeah, Like that!!
"Make sure you jump far off the ledge so you don't hit the cliff!!"
"DO IT!! DO IT!! JUMP JUMP!!"
The sound is cut off on the footage, so you can't hear all the ruckus. lol
Some day I hope to be a cliff jumping pro like you, Tizzy. I've seen your pics, you are FEARLESS. We can't wait to meet you!
Does anyone else have any footage or pictures of their first cliff jump? It would be fun to see!
Carpe Diem
Boom! Awesome.
Yep. We will just have to take a few leaps togetherNothin like a jump off a big cliff. lol
My first jump in Negril was feet first. The water is so clear. Looks shallow....I couldn't believe how deep it really was when I opened my eyes under the water. Incredible.....
here it is....drumroll....
lol @ my face
Stir IT UP
Hmmmm, good question! I know I must have it somewhere.....I will just have to find it, as my first jump was in 1999 and it was long before I had a digital camera so it will be on actual film! LOL
My first jump was from the Pickled Parrot. I think I did it 2 more times that day and that was when I realized that I had a limit of aproximately 3 jumps from a spot that high per day...it really does take a lot out of you after a bit. Plus the location of the jump to how far you had to swim to the ladder was a good distance. (the spot I jumped is about where Pushcart restaurant is now and the ladder was on the side of the cliff where you see the massage hut at Rockhouse (that all used to be the Pickled Parrot)
Also, back then jumping from Pickled Parrot was about like it is from Ricks now.....a BIG crowd either cheering you on or heckling you. I, of course, jumped right off immediately to avoid the heckling but we were always just as entertained by the folks that would stand there for LONG times (some even 15-30 minutes) before jumping. And of course there were also the ones that went in at a bad angle, you could always spot them (they were the ones with really red backsides)
I have some more recent pictures or video from other jumps such as the platform at Xtabi and the Lighthouse at Negril Escape (Raul and I did that one the day after our wedding-Ha! We decided to "Take the Plunge").
However, I always have a joke about whoever is taking my picture during a jump....I seem to have no problem at all capturing THEIR jumps on camera, but when it comes my turn they never seem to get the picture in time, which means I have to jump again.....does anyone else believe that story?!?!?! Yeah, me neither. I had one friend who made me jump about 4 times from the platform at Xtabi because he kept "just missing it" Yeah sure, I am on to you buddy! LMAO!!!!
So happy to see this going again. The girl who won't swim in the ocean goes cliff jumping? Impressive!![]()
