Welcome aboard!
I will be staying at HSH for the first time this April, and received a lot of great feedback from fellow boardies. The consensus is that it's a beautiful place and a great value on the cliffs.
I'll second reading Guirigay's trip report and also look for recent posting from Vikman. Both include excellent pictures of the hotel and the surrounding area.
Welcome YeahMon,
Can't believe that board name is still available, well done! I love Home Sweet Home. If there is anything I can help you with I'll be happy to do it. Charlie, the owner, is a great guy and will be extremely helpful as well. Best of luck.
What's so funny 'bout Peace, Love and Understanding?
Welcome to the board. Based on Guirigay's review my husband and I are booked at HSH in Nov. Looking forward to our first time staying on the cliffs.
Yeahmon, you have fallen in love with some great properties there. I would say if you are planning a visit, then you could either stay a few days at each or just go to the property and ask for a tour. Before we ever stayed at or even booked our wedding at Catcha, we visited them when we were in Negril on a trip. They were so great. They let us come in for lunch and a drink at the bar, we toured some of the open rooms, we talked to the staff and we even chatted with some of the regulars.....but in all honesty I was smitten the moment we stepped foot on the property.
But yes, most all places will allow you to come on the property for a tour (with the exceptions being maybe during high season or if they are booked that day for a special event such as a wedding)
Fred Stripe, I am not sure what you are referring to about your thoughts on Catcha.
We had chosen them before we were even engaged as our wedding location!
Welcome! You will find any and all info you are looking for here.
Hubby and I did a simple vow renewal ceremony at Citronella right at sunset. It was beautiful. But I am sure that you are looking for something bigger.
Welcome. Glad you decided to step out from the shadows. Good luck finding you're perfect wedding venue.
Stir IT UP
Welcome YeahMon!
I am one of those boardies that got married at the Blue Cave Castle. I first stayed there in 2000, my first solo trip, and it immediately felt like home. From that first stay I had dreamed of being there with a lover and after that happened in 2004 the next dream was to be married there. In December 2007 we rented the entire property for a week and filled it with family and a few friends. We also had friends staying at Treehouse, Charela, and all the children were at Yellow Bird with a couple of aunties. The wedding and reception were truly a dream come true. Susan, Petrona and the staff are like family and they did everything to make it special. We had 30 or so friends and family from the states and probably twice that from the island. Rob and Lisa from negril.com and realnegril.com were there to webcast it and the videos are on youtube. We will be there this December to celebrate our fifth anniversary and are counting the days. There are many wonderful properties where you could get married but don't over think it, you have found the perfect, most unique and romantic place.
Bless...
Ed
All I said was I spoke of the place...Thats all.
Once again thank you everyone!
Clarity- thank you for the thread suggestions! I'm hooked, everyone's trip reports are amazing. I actually read your most recent report last night and couldn't stop reading.
Guarigay- I couldnt believe yeahmon wasnt already being used i had to have it as my screen name! But im half through your trip report and am now set on home sweet home for the wedding your pictures and report made me feel like I was on your trip with you!
Marley- I will definitely be visiting all of the properties, whether for a meal or a nights stay. I'm hoping to visit negril many more times in the future, would love to stay at every place on the cliffs.
Ras walleye- the castle was my first taste of Jamaica and I've been fiending for it since. I was there for a weddin and we had the entire property as you did. It was such a wonderful experience that since then I've known I would be married in jamaica. I would have had the wedding at the castle but wanted to stay at a location I had never been, but I will most definitely visit chef teddy and staff :
