I feel you will get up and go more staying at Seastar, depends what you want to do for the day. At the beach you can just be. Only my opinion. Giving both places a try is a great idea!

I'm with Gerry as far as the value. I have also eaten at both and Seastar's food is better in my opinion. If it was me I would pic Seastar and visit the beach. Seastar also has a pool, pool table, etc so the kids should not get bored. They also have 2 units that are 2 bedroom to handle a family.
Seastar it is! I can't pass up the savings with the cost of the room and having a basic kitchen so we don't have to eat out for every single meal. And we like to shoot pool. : ) I'll try to write a trip report when we get back. 18 days 'till Catcha Falling Star without the kids!! So excited!
Good work. You'll love Catcha as well! I'm at Seastar in 23 days and Catcha a few days later. First beers on me if we cross paths.
Unfortunately we will only be in Negril for four nights in April. We fly home on the 18th. We are going to just miss almost everyone on this board.
You could get a room at Coco CHEAP through NegrilOneStop using the Mad Coco sale. Also, remember Seastar is not directly on the cliffs if that was what you were interested in.
We would have to get two rooms at Coco, I was told the 2 bedroom suite is not included in the Mad Coco sale. We will save a few hundred by staying at Seastar. If my kids were younger, I think I would pick the beach, but they are 21 and 17. I just want to have as much money as possible to eat/drink and explore Negril. The only other time I have been there was for our honeymoon 10 years ago and we stayed at Sandals. It was so expensive we only had enough money to do one excursion off of the resort and that was when we had the most fun. I want to get out and see Jamaica. We'll still go to the beach of course, we'll just pack our beach bags and hang out there all day. I plan on going to Xtabia to eat/drink/swim and maybe on that day we'll head down to the beach for dinner and see what it is like at night. All in all we will have more money to spend even after paying for the taxies if we stay at Seastar. Plus it looks like a cool and fun place to hang out too.
I really do appreciate all of the advice, even though I am not taking the advice of most boardies. And the trip reports are awesome!! I'm going to have to start writing down all the places/people I want to see based on the trip reports. I love the message board!
I would drop Seastar an email regarding the microwave. I always stay in room 1 and there is no microwave there (but there is also no kitchenette)whereas Seastar has at least a microwave, I believe.
I know that Chris has talked about getting them for the rooms but unsure if this has happened yet. Fairly certain that the 2 bedroom suites have them.
Didn't think about the two bedroom suite at Coco, but there are the suites with two queen beds....just throwing more possibilities out at you lol! Wherever you stay, I am sure you'll have fun no matter where you stay.
Just to let everyone know Seastar is going to be having a special starting May 1 to October 31. $399 per week per room includes all taxes, free beach shuttle, Saturday Night Reggae Show and Continental Breakfast.
