I'm so sorry to hear about the bumpy start in Negril. I can only imagine your frustration.
I would have also paid the $50, you did the right thing even though you shouldn't have had to deal with that situation in the first place. It sounds like the hotel manager mixed you up with another guest's request and is too ashamed to admit the error that was made. That's bad business.
I agree with what Irieworld said; The best thing to do right now is shake it off and let it go. I'm glad you found another place that you like and I'm sure once you're all settled in, you're going to have the time of your life!
You should definitely go to Canoe, See Rob & Lisa at the webcast... I bet Rasta Stan will be there too!
