Thanks S-G, Sweetsue, Luvsdaisland, Robin for your advice!
Juli – love the Packing cubes! Thanks for the heads up on that. I didn’t even know those existed. So if I vacuum pack all my clothes and put them in packing cubes, I could probably pull off two carry-ons.
Orchid – I agree, I also don’t mind handwashing but it would suck having to lug clothing to a Laundromat halfway through my trip because I’m out of clean clothes – or having to pay the hotel to do it for me!
Thanks Brasi – yeah, I’m not a fan of the fees. $60 can go a LONG way! that’s a bunch of Redstripes AND a Lobster Thermidore!! (But Unfortunately Lobster will be out of season when we get there and Rob refused to hide one in his freezer for me.Phft…)
Patty – You crack me up! I’m looking forward to seeing your judging swimsuit!!
Thanks everyone! Soon come!![]()

This Patty Sather THE JUDGE situation has the entire pool of competitors heading back to the drawing board in consideration of an appropriate winning strategy. I'm considering some sort of Red Bull Flugtag like human winged manatee get up... http://www.redbullflugtagusa.com/

Clarity-
Just my experience. My first trip to Jamaica was an impromptu trip from Florida in 1975. I was there with a friend, and when she left I decided (on some advice from a couple that had just returned) to go to Negril. I had one hard sided suitcase and an old guitar. In those days, you either bought a ticket for 6 weeks or less, or more than six weeks. I bought the cheaper one thinking "I won't stay anywhere near that long". Almost three months later I showed up at the airport with my 6 week ticket. After it was determined that I actually had NO MORE MONEY they just told me "Get on di plane mon". Since I've started going back with my wife over the last 7 or 8 years I've been back 16 or 17 times. Everyone with just a carry on. My wife also is just carry on (besides her huge purse ;>).We go for between 10 and 12 days each time. We have never had a problem running out of anything (except maybe money ;>). We've learned over the course of time that we can get many things in Jamaica as cheap or cheaper than in the states. Shampoo, creme, conditioner etc.. We also leave anything not used behind for the staff. Also, I've been on many types of planes from many airlines (USAir, Delta United, American) and have NEVER had a problem with my carry on fitting either in overhead storage or under the seat. Whatever you decide I know you will have a great trip. As I'll be in Negril at the same time (4-17 - 4-27) hopefully I'll run into you and Marcus at the beach (or canoe, or the Jungle, or wherever ;>). I'll be the thin guy with the chinese tattoo on his back.

I use Packing Cubes from ebags.com., I use these as dresser drawers. Stack 2 high in hard case luggage, with 2 sides. You never really have to unpack, great for moving from
one place to another. Also, if your bags are searched, they can unzip, without messing up your folded clothes. Ebags.com is fast on delivery, look for promo codes. They are on
sale now also.
I've seen people do the layers thing before, heck I saw some people doing at while getting their boarding pass because their suitcase was to heavy and they didn't want to pay the extra fee!

Clarity, The hotels that you are staying will be pleased (for a small fee) to wash anything you need to have washed -therefore the 6 days of clothes can become 2 week's worth of clothes. Also, other than your friends who will love you no matter what you are wearing....everyone you meet the 2nd week will view you as having new clothes anyway. XXX
Can someone send me a link of these lanterns everyone keeps talking about? I'm curious.
