OMG Gerry you haven't had ackee and saltfish yet? It's only Jamaica's national breakfast dish, you have GOT to try it. Ackee is a fruit, and has the consistency and texture of scrambled eggs, with a mild taste that is seasoned by saltfish.

For an excellent breakfast whether it be traditional Jam or Foreign style....Sweet Spot is #1 - # 2 would be alfreds... all you got to do is see all the locals come out of sweet spot to maybe get a hint something good going on there for breakfast..

OH..but its across the street on the beach-road ,not actually on the beach..but with food this good why should that hamper you from trying it out???

Not only that, but they deliver!
Best I've had though is at The Caves, great Jamaican breakfast, or even better the banana pancakes.

My favorite breakfast of all time wat at Country Country years ago when the restaurant was out by the road. I was pondering my choice when a fisherman handed of a stringer of fish tothe cook. I decided on the Jamaican Fish breakfast and had to chill while the cook cleaned the fish, chopped the veggies and cooked it all up. The beach venue is much nicer, but could I still get that Fish breakfast? --Marblehead

Marblehead, I don't recall a Fish Breakfast at Country Country in the past few years, but I have seen the cooks buying fish from the fisherman who uses an old windsurf board and spear for fishing.

I'm partial to Coco's banana bread! I have to agree...Country Country's breakfast looks freaking awesome! That may be going on the list!!

Ted and I had to meet someone at Canoe yesterday morning and opted for the Jamaican Breakfast which was ackee & saltfish, calalloo, fried dumplings. It was so yummy and very economical. This morning it is roasted breadfruit at home.

Tamminator is fond of Canoe for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And although it is in my top ten breakfasts because of the setting/view...I never thought of it as a beach restaurant. There IS a beach there, the DO have beach chairs and we HAVE seen plenty of bathers/snorkelers there. Its just that its.....such a cliff-vibe place...and it is not on 7mile beach. Tam finally figured out how to properly use the French Press...

I am going to give away a secret.......our favorite breakfast place isn't on the beach......its Jus Natural. Don't miss their reasonably priced dinners. I am partial to their egg sandwich for breakfast, but their omelets are fine. Tam loves the giant mug of great coffee with a giant shot of Rum Creme.

I gave up on ackee and saltfish for more than once every seven days. Tam doesn't care for saltfish, but she thinks the ackee is a funny thing for a fruit and loves it!

Country Country does have a Janaican breakfast, ackee & saltfish, calalloo, fried dumplings - I don't imagine Saltfish is fresh fish?

I loved our dinner at Canoe Bar, Just Natural's big mug of coffee with rum cream sounds great!
