    SweetSue,

I am assuming you are American, and I think you are mistaken in the pricing - confusing kilos and pounds. All the stores islandwide are very competitive when it comes to chicken and no one will be selling anything at the price difference you mentioned. In the above picture, the j$408 is for a kilogram, not a pound. A kilo weighs about 2.2 pounds. So the cost for the chicken above was j$185 per pound or us$2.18 a pound, nowhere near the us$4.00 you suggest. In fact, if you are paying j$250 to J$300 per pound, then you are actually paying substantially more than you would pay at MegaMart or HiLo...

So according to my conversion app that chicken would be$ 7.70 US if that is right that's a good deal for a full chicken.especially as its free range.

Thanks - I sit corrected. I missed that - the local shop I frequent actually do weigh out by the pound, (I don't know why but they do) and we have a lady we buy fresh from (running in the yard at sunrise, on your plate at sunset) also by the pound for about $200 JD per. Mega Mart IS a good deal then. I think I will be making a stop.
