Sunday morning. The only day we actually have something scheduled. Church at 11. So I get up my usual early, about 6:15ish, and head out onto the balcony. Nice day. Still some tree frogs chirping, and birds starting to get active. The flowered bush that stretches up to the patio is already being visited by two kinds of hummingbirds, as well as other small wren-like birds. One of these days I'll actually look them up and find out what they are.
Breakfast of bun and cheese, and the usual protein hit- eggs, but this time with corned beef and lots of hot sauce. Debbie is sleeping in. She's up about 8ish, and we have coffee together. Speaking of coffee, the brewer doesn't work worth a darn! One hour to brew a 10 cup pot. Not a mineral issue, but the thermostat isn't working any more, and what we have is luke warm. Time for a different pot. The people at Firefly deliver a new one within 5 minutes of our request. Nice service!
Got dressed for Sunday-Go-To-Meeting, and headed out about 10:15ish. Through town and out the Sav road. After Sheffield, in New Hope, the left turn up to St. Paul's Anglican church. Stopped on the way to pick up a mother and two kids walking there. Figured we'd save them some time and sweat. While they were getting in, a local stopped on his motorcycle to be our tour guide, since we were obviously lost. Hmmmm. In church clothes, with church people, heading to a church. Let me consider this... Nope, I guess we don't need a guide. However, giving him the proper credit, VERY few people would turn on to this road on purpose, mostly if they were lost. At church we found that all the people we were looking for weren't going to be there, and the service would even be without music, since thieves a month ago had stolen the speaker OUT OF THE ORGAN, as well as the fans on the walls. What kind of scum steals from a poor church? So, Debbie suffering the aftereffects of a migraine, we headed into Sav for some things, and then back to the cottage.
In the afternoon we had some beach time, and then got on the project of rewiring and relocating the external wi-fi antenna. Didn't do a lot with it, but got things ready in preparation. Down time at the beach was necessary. Started to rain about three, so we headed into the cottage. Major rain! Nice just to lay there and listen to it hit the roof. Very relaxing. (read- snooze).
As usual we met people who were fascinating and dynamic, and we invited them along to dinner. Over to Chicken Lavish, for our first real taste of Jamaican cooking in a while. Doc greeted us, gave the other two menus, and he knew what we were going to order, so that was all taken care of. I've never had a bad meal at Chicken Lavish, and this time was as good or better than the rest. His curried conch just melts in the mouth. And the conch chowder is do die for. The portions too big, and we're not even considering desert. But sat there talking with Doc for another hour, hearing about the kids and what's happening in the area, and when business this year was good, and still waiting for Spring Break. I think Spring Broke...
Back to Firefly for a nightcap and an early bed-time. That's Mr and Mrs excitement, us!
