Cool Sweetness Trip Report April 2012 - Catcha Falling Star!

Got moved into Gatehouse at Catcha in the morning and it is cute as a button. private gated smooth cement patio/garden, AC, cable, full size fridge/freezer (for my coveted ICE lol) and best feature open air private shower.......just a few photo reports to get caught up. Yesterday after checkin spend whole day at Kool Runnings wata park (separate post) and was so sunburned and exhausted.....fell out early missing Luciano at Sea Star and the whole gang! Funny how quiet it is this morning (musta been too much fun last night) but heading to pool after these posts and hope to meet a few boardies and enjoy the day. More soon come.....

Cindy and I had dinner there last week, it is the most romantic place to have dinner together, we thoroughly enjoyed it there and will even stay there next reach, even for 3 nights or so!!

Sweetness, we are considering the Gatehouse at Catcha for our next trip. I am guessing given the name that the room must be near the gate and the road. How did you find the noise levels? There is so much love on the board for Catcha that I am considering adjusting our plans so we can check it out.

I have been loving all of your photos. It makes it kind of like being there and makes me want to be back even more.

Hi Cherry. Gatehouse is super nice. Yes it is right at the gate and the private patio on one side is the entrance fence so if you are outside you hear people ring the bell and such but I enjoy it. At night you hear the dogs, people round the neighborhood but for me it is all the sounds of Jamaica and it is soothing to me. If you are easily disturbed you may feel differently. The open air shower is amazing. The room comfortable. Full size fridge/freezer and microwave. No cooktop or coffeemaker (but coffee is ready by the sea from 6:00 am with all the trimmings so no problem). Hammock and table w/2 chairs on patio. Cable; AC plus you can enjoy the whole amazing property (pool, jacuzzi, private rock sitting places on the sea, loungers, gardens, awesome bar and food. This is my last choice of units on the property but I took it because to me any room at Catcha is great. Hope that helps and thanks for the feedback on my reports.

hi sweetness, i toured the gatehouse couple of weeks ago and it's lovely. i've stayed at the little saggitarius, the other budget room and it was lovely with very little road noise. in the morning, i would hear the emplloyees getting ready for their jobs as the shed is next to the little sag. was not disturbed at all, kind of comforting sounds. . . . for sure loved every nook and cranny of the property. will stay again. either of the budget rooms are ok, cause you are on the property and can enjoy it!!!

by the way, love all your reporting.

Thanks Sweetness and JitterBug, that is exactly the info I was looking for. The off season rate is so good, I was kind of worried their might be a catch. It is so nice to be able to ask someone first hand. Yeah Negril.com! (

It really does sound fantastic. If we manage to get enough in the Irie Box, we are hoping to extend our trip from a week to 10 days, so I am keeping a close eye on costs. The other cottages look fantastic, but they won't be in the budget this trip. Getting onto the property so we can enjoy it all is the goal, but I don't want to sacrifice the basics for the priviledge. My experience is that in some resorts you really don't want to stay in the budget rooms. Nothing about your description sounds like a sacrifice, especially that outdoor shower!

Sweetness I love reading your reports and the pictures are great I too love Catcha, but budget wise can't do some of the expensive rooms. Last year we booked Pisces and were give Venus - a dream come true! We are looking to come back and if Pisces is booked, I was wondering about Gatehouse, and from the sounds of it we will love it!! Thank you
