    Coffee a la "Thunder"

Thunder had just returned form the Blue Mountains and was roasting these beans when I went to see him. His large drum is finished so he has (for now) to roast in small batches over the fire. He also has cocoa beans but I forgot to ask the price for those. His coffee is great and he charges $20US/lb for them. He is located in the pink house behind Miss Sonia's on the beach road.

oh man I LOVE Thunder's coffee, it is the best I have ever tasted in my life! Can't wait to get some more when I come down in August. He and Barbara are truly good people too.

I thought raw coffee beans were red like berries. Maybe there is a red skin that is removed.

Mmm, I'd like to try this. I'll have to put Thunder's coffee on my "to do" list!

Andy, coffee off the shrub is called coffee BERRIES, and can range in color from green-yellow-red; "ripe" when mostly red but they don't all necessarily come ripe at the same time hence the various hues. The coffee berries are dried, and the skin removed (from most varieties-for better flavor). The remaining product is called a coffee BEAN, or green coffee bean before it is roasted. When roasted it changes color to the familiar coffee bean we know. IRIE! *IG
