Tonight is the brightest full moon of the year. It's called the perigean full moon. The moon is as close to the Earth as it will get in the next 16 months and is also a "full" moon.

I 'm at 30˚ N. latitude with clear sky. Negril is at 18˚ N latitude so the moon will rise sooner.

thanks for the reminder, Capt. Am going to wander around and see if I can see it. It is also cinco de mayo so NYC has a little craziness going on tonight. And certainly not as good moon viewing as other places.
Can't see the super moon tonight from where I am...too cloudy...But here is what I saw last night (Friday) at Catcha Falling Star....

The Super Moon was beautiful tonight from Monetta, South Carolina at The Big Mo drive-in with my kids! It was so bright and big, it was messing with the movie screen.
Looked just like a scene from Bruce Almighty....
You never see it coming ... and the next thing you know ... UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
It was cloudy and a thunderstorm popped up here yesterday evening so I missed it!
