    First Time In Negril!

Wife and I are headed to Negril (Couples) for our honeymoon (may 7 - 12). Everyone tells us not to venture from thr resort, but we both love to soak up the local flavor. Any tips, advice or suggestions are very welcome! She's mid 20s, I'm mid 30s. Both active and enjoy the nightlife.

    Love this forum!!

Get out and Enjoy! Wander the beach (during the day), stop at the little bars and restaurants. Get up to the cliffs, maybe book a nice dinner at Ivan's (Catcha Falling Star). Or just go up for a sunset, Xtabi is great for that - get a Dirty Banana! A trip to Mayfield Falls. Go to a webcast! realnegril.com has a list of times and places. No need to stay inside the Couples compound! Have fun!!

    Congrats on booking your trip!

if you like walking, i'd say just walk the beach you're bound to find some place to stop in.. i believe seasplash is relatively close...and the walk up to Alfreds isn't so bad..

For nightlife i'd suggest going to jungle on thursday...

or Alfreds for live music on friday

Everytime I hear this from someone, it really bothers me. Why bother going to another country just to be a prisoner in a pretty cage? I am so glad you are willing to explore and not let that type of bad advice stop you. Of course you should enjoy your resort but don't be afraid to Enjoy Negril - you have definitely come to the right place for suggestions of things to do. While you are packing, remember to bring your common sense along & you will be fine.

    Peace & Blessings

bring a backpack, toss in some bootled water, your camera, and bug spray for nite time, a towel and sunscreen and lots of money. Head down the beach, to many places to mention but a here are a few of our favs, first place past the AI's Barrys bar, nice necklaces I always buy one and there and you will be hassled less often to buy something. Seasplash has 2 happyhours, and a great vibe, Aunties next door doesn't look like much but nice people and some of the tastiest food i've ever eaten. We sat around the bamboo fire at Treehouse one nite, and enjoyed the company of a wedding party, security there is great and would get you back to your resort no prob mon. Sun beach has good drinks and better people watching. Wild parrot another happy hour, and miss Rose the fruit lady will fix your munchies, Chances makes a good pie, further down Tonys hut is a fun place to meet others and chill. Across the road from Cocola Palm is BestintheWest always my first stop when we arrive in Negril, Tallman is our Driver and he hangsout there, and if want to venture out to Rick's he is honest, safe, reliable, Knowledgeable and fun. Congats and have a blast the rest of your lives. We went to Negril for our 25th anny. and have been returning ever since. Cheers!!!Name: IMG_0374.jpg

I agree with katho..Ivans is a great spot for dinner..I was there in March, going back for dinner in June! BTW.. we stayed @ CN last year, so a quick tip: if you want to get out on the snorkel boat- reserve EARLY, the boat fills up FAST and DO sign up for the catamaran trip! have fun!

I love CN, it's a wonderful place. That's where we stayed on our first trip. However, you're missing a lot if you don't get out and wander a bit. CN is on Bloody Bay so you'll need to get over to the 'main' beach to explore. Get to the cliffs, go off resort...you won't regret it.

CN is so nice though, and sand gravity is so strong lol, I can see how you wouldn't leave the resort (we didn't our first trip)!

Who is the 'everyone' that tells you not to leave the resort???? I can't believe anyone who has stayed outside an AI would say that. If you like this board, you will read that most of the people who post their trips here don't stay AI. That must tell you something. All the photo's are of Negril and outside the town, it's all out there! Go and take your sensible head and enjoy one of the best places in the world for a holiday. Then, next time when you DO come back, you won't stay AI, you'll look for a place on the cliffs or the beach. Hope you both have a great time.
Rise early, treat everyday as though it's your last and your last day as it's your first.
