How can I get to Negril on the cheap?

I have dreamed of spending my 50th in Negril for quite a few years now. My husband is not able to get work off at Christmas time so I am trying to figure out how I can get there, inexpensively and hopefully find a GF to come with. I don't need much in the way of food/restaurants, patties and cook shops work great for me. And I DISLIKE, ( alot!!!) All Inclusives.
Why does it have to be so much more expensive at Christmas time.

Well in all honesty the cheapest way is going to be the AI way. Apple square deal Negril is the cheapest I ever know of. $600 app. for 5 nights at an all inclusive includes air under 1000 for 7 nights.

I don't know much at all about the Apple Square deal, but out of curiousity, I checked that site as well as a couple of others. It appears that the Apple deal is for the US only. At least the choice of departures lists US cities only. It's more challenging (and expensive) for those Canadians who do not live close to a MAJOR airport, such as Toronto. Apple did allow a search from Halifax for a regular hotel/flight package, Rooms showed for approximately $1500 pp. over Christmas dates

I checked Red Tag and Flightcentre and neither are showing listings past August yet. Tripcentral showed listings from Halifax via Air Canada Vacations for also over Christmas dates for $1300 - $1540 pp, at Rooms Negril. That site is nice b/c you can actually choose rooms types. (King/double & single beds, breakfast/no breakfast).

Are you usually able to fly out of Fredericton?

I'd wait another month or so. I have looked too but find that Air Canada or West Jet do not, as yet have their Christmas prices at a good price - it's too soon. The prices do actually come down later but not for long.

As for hotels, check the board listings and see what there is. I do know that Christmas is expensive because it's in high season. A friend of mine flies Christmas day - it's cheaper and not quite as packed.
