Just back from 16 days in Negril and headed back soon, and one of the things I am looking forward to is finishing the menu at Sing U. Yes, I said FINISHING, because I gave it a very good stab on this past reach. I literally stumbled up on the place by having to go to Digicel and pay homage to the cellular Gods that be in Jamaica. I was holding my breath that business phone number 2 chip was still active. Mind you now, I had topped both of them up on the same day and the same hour last time, but in typical Jamaican style, one operated upon landing at Sangster, and the other needed at least another 100 J phone card when pon the rock to start kicking.
As I left Digicel I went left and ended up under a blue awning with about two white plastic tables and chairs set out. Behind it is a serving counter and beyond that I could smell food and hear the sizzling of things cooking. I was parched so I asked the petite Asian lady lounging in one of the chairs if they had water. She proceeded to get it for me and all I wanted to do was sit out of the sun for a while and hydrate.
From the second I sat down I thought "This has got to be the coolest place ever to just sit and watch the runnings in downtown Negril". Say where am I anyway? I never saw this place before?" That is when I really started to check out my surroundings and ask some questions. The owner, Ms. Sing, and I started to talk. She has been open about 6 months (see I knew I never saw this one before), and the food is Asian/Jamaican fusion. "Ok what is the best thing on the menu?"
"All of my food is good, but my favorite is the Thai Green Curry Chicken." "Ok I will have that please."
