that's where installing Tripit on your smartphone comes in handy. I'd take a few moments to go to use my hotel's wifi daily to check what I had upcoming as far as things I wanted to do, and/or as needed. All the phone numbers and suggestions/events I'd kept track of before leaving are right there at a glance. Works great and takes virtually no organization or much time at all once there.
