    Re: Seasplash?

    Jim,

I haven't met you, but you brought so much energy to this board and the seasplash that I was really looking forward to meeting you, and that and the great reviews seasplash was getting once you took over were the only reason I purchased a voucher. I certainly wouldn't have otherwise! At this point in time I'm not too overly worried about that, but am concerned about the litigation you and your partner are facing. That is really none of my business, but we appreciate your honesty and I know I hope that everything works out in your behalf.

    Rob and bnewb, Miss ya'll!

I understand what you are saying as well, and hopefully everything will work out....but I also agree with Melody that it might not be the same, and as you know, there are a lot of other places in Negril that I would normally stay anyway.....

So, I haven't made any reservations yet (at seasplash or elsewhere) as I'm not sure when I can get back there at this time, but we all have until next April to see what happens!
    Possible vibes!!!!

I had hedo friends that had recently frequented seasplash for the new vibe and your webcasts rob, and EVERYBODY was loving it! Let's hope that it can continue....

Good Luck and bless you Jim for trying to follow your dreams!!! I honestly hope "everything little ting will be alright"

    negril hugs!

    Re: Seasplash?

Oh boy, trouble in paradise. As some of you know, I've been singing the praises of Seasplash on this board for years. My family and I have been staying there since 2000, every trip. And every trip has been fabulous. This is a lovely property and has a wonderful staff. The set up with the pool, restaurant, bar and hot tub all right on the beach together makes it ideal, especially for us with a young child to watch. From our (constant) seats at the bar, we could see it all. I never met the owner, Patrick Lawe, as he is a Kingston businessman and not on property. Over the years there have been some good managers and some not so good ones, but it never affected our trip. The place itself, and the caring attentive staff, were what made it fabulous.

About a year ago I started to get to know Patrick Lawe a bit, as he looked for a buyer for Seasplash. We spent several hours on the phone and on email talking about his property, which we both loved, and considered a real gem on the beach. Patrick conceived and built Seasplash from the ground up - and though his other businesses kept him off-property, it was in his heart, and his hope was that it would continue to thrive under someone else's hand. Enter Jim and Ted. I was concerned to be honest, about their plans. But we kept our plan to stay there this past winter, and as I reported on this Board, we had a blast. I was ready to not like it or them, but in truth, the changes they made were good ones -- they had a vision and they were on their way to creating it. And the people started to show up, and the place was hopping. Most of the changes were to the beach end of the property -- wanting to draw musicians and music=lovers in for concerts -- eventually competing with the most popular Negril music-venues. While we were there this year, Patrick Lawe came over for the day, and we spent a good deal of time together, talking about things that had been done, and musing about what would be next. Pat seemed very pleased with what he saw, and he liked the vibe and he liked the increased traffic he saw. I also spent a lot of time talking with Jim and Ted about what they were planning, and sharing my own ideas for the property with them, as someone who feels a sort of ownership there as well after all these years. We had a lot of fun together.

I don't know and would never venture to suggest what happened between parties in a business matter. And I'm sorry for all involved that it seems not be to working out. However as long as Seasplash is a viable property we will be staying there. One person does not make or break or vacation -- no matter how much fun he can be! For my family it's the best place on the beach and always has been. So we'll keep going no matter.

Since this news came out, I have requested a formal letter from management confirming my reservation, the inclusions and the amount of taxes payable. Have not yet had a response. If there is no response by Monday, I will try calling with my request, for what it's worth. Simply calling and getting a verbal assurance that everything will be honoured, as you mentioned, if it isn't in writing, it doesn't count for much.
Melody, your post above is exactly what I was thinking. Who's to say the current management will honor our vouchers. If we don't have anything from the current management in writing, the voucher can be null and void as far as management is concerned. Unless someone has bought the voucher, he or she does not know how we feel. I don't have money to throw away.

Thanks Lisa!! I hope the outcome is good for me and the other people who bought vouchers. I have also written to Living Social to see what they will say.

Well said Rob and Mrs. Wilson. Being a newb to Negril the slightest thing that changes the few constants (Flight, Hotel, Transportation) really puts me on the defense. I'm a pretty laid back guy but I like to know the bones are there so that I can feel like there is some type of structure at my home away from home. I appreciate everyone on this boards opinions and guidance. Rob you have really created a great environment for people to come together and share information and I've come to rely on this community to make me and my co-traveler (love of my life ) feel safe and EXCITED about our next trip to Negril. Thanks to all and a big hope that this gets resolved to the satisfaction for all involved. No one wants to think their paradise vacation spot is under siege .
