Church in Negril
My daughter, Emily, would like for us to attend services on Sunday June 10th and I need to know where we can find a Bible/Baptist/Nazarene type church-time of services and proper attire.
Thank you for any info!
P.S.
How we're gonna pull this off after Seastar Saturday night, I have NO idea!!! But I promised I would ask!

Re: Church in Negril
There are so many churches in Negril and Jamaica. I am not sure of the exact doctrine...but there is a wonderful church on the cliffs that my husband and I attended on Christmas. There is a female pastor that is sooooo good. The congregation was so accepting. I think the name is Palm bay or Palm Grove..something like that. It is between Xtabi and Samsara on the right hand side heading towards town. We have watched this church progress for year. Earlier, there was just folding chairs, etc....now, the church is lovely. I highly recommend it.
As far as attire, again, they were so accepting of visitors. We were told by a Jamaican friend that we went with, that there was no problem if we didn't have what we call "church clothes". I wore a simple sundress and my husband wore a golf shirt and long shorts. (He had no long pants with him except jeans) There was no problem at all. The service was great and the pastor acknowledged our presence and we were welcomed by all. We even were invited to the back room for juice and traditional Christmas Cake. I still recall the statement that the minister made, " Go out on the Christmas Day and make your heart fresh"......Priceless!!! Good luck and enjoy!!

Re: Church in Negril
I have attended the church at the sharp corner above the Sunshine Plaza where HiLo is. It is Christian but not sure of the doctrine. I love seeing the church ladies and their lovely hats and outfits. I usualy wear a sundress also and have always been welcomed with love. A favorite memory is all the doors wide open with the sea breeze blowing through and we all held hands and sang the Lords Prayer together as one. Also usually a featured singer (like a young girl) and an offering. It did last a long time - over two hours (8:45 to 11:30 maybe? its on the sign out front). I enjoy it every time I go.
As Yetta said so many churches - if you look at the Negril Map on the home page it may show some detailed names and locations. Somewhere I heard there are more churches per capita in JA than anywhere else - not sure if that is true but I would believe it. Enjoy your reach!

Re: Church in Negril
Church at the sharp corner up from Sunshine Plaza is Anglican (Episcopal in the U.S.) so it is quite close in doctrine to the Catholic Service.

Here is a little report I wrote a few years ago. When we go to Negril we now regularly go to Calvary Baptist Church of Strath Bogie. It is a little adventure to get there, but the people are so nice and always give us a ride back to Sav to catch a route taxi back to Negril. It is a traditional Baptist church.

Bob
